i'm a cass living in pittsburgh. my cass ancestors i believe are from france... it's been traced back pretty far. i know i'm related to Lewis Cass. i know there was a cass school of fencing in MA created by ancestors of mine...

William Heap (b.abt 1825, Plymouth, Devon) emigrated to the USA in the 1850s. His brother James was my gr-gr-granfather.
William and his wife Mary had several children and one of them Elizabeth (b.abt 1863, NH) married Henry Cass (b.abt 1859, NH).
I have only traced one child Alice (b.abt 1898, NH)so far.

I've hitten a brick wall Anyone out there, familar with my Cass line.
My great grandmother was Genevieve Wakeman (Cass) 1904-1989, She had two brothers than i am sure of William F Cass 1906-1986, and Herbert I Cass 1911-?? And possibly 3 sisters Lorena 1896-?, Cecil 1900-?, and Dorothy 1908-?
Her mother's name was Julia 1877-?(Maiden name unknown) and Acoording to census records her Father's name was either Darrell or Daniel. Genevieve married Clarence Wakeman 1899-1976 They had several Children. Harley, Harold, Frank and my grandfather Arnold, Donna, linda and Laureen.

THROWN FROM HORSE

Lewis Cass, a full-blood, who had been in the town during the evening, was found Saturday night about 8 o’clock, on the roadside a mile west of the city, with an ugly gash cut over his eye and otherwise badly bruised. He was brought to the city and Dr. Sadler called in who sewed up the wound. He was unconscious when found and thought to be in a critical condition. He had been drinking during the evening, so it is said, and the supposition is that he was thrown by the horse he was riding. The next morning after waking from an unconscious state Cass was able to get up and go home but could not tell anything about what caused his accident.

Stephen Stone appears on the 1850 Cass Co. GA census. He was born in SC in 1787, and moved his family to Cass Co. sometime after 1840. His son, also named Stephen, also appears in the same census with his family.

I don't know what census page these families show on, but if anyone has access to good .jpg files of them, I would be indebted if you'd share them with me.

IN 1881 he was in Cape Cove married to Sarah Beck with 8 children, Julia, Thomas, Charles, James, Elizabeth, Edmund, Mary Jane and Ellen. There I lose him. Sarah shows up in Michigan in the 1900 census without Christopher. Would like to find out when and where he died.

His father Augustus Wire born 1799, died 1869. Buried in Taylor.

from Mrs. Evelyn Wirth to Thomas Cass, she is asking for genealogical information,
and gives this information to Thomas.
Her grandfather Senesa Wire born 1831 in Pantage? Co. Ohio, died 1926.
His father Philip Wire born about 1800 in Pennsylvania. Philip Wire married
Eliz. Rummel of Pennsylvania. Philip also had a brother named Michael.

Onno E. Cass, 89, of 1135 N. Cambrian Avenue, [Bremerton, WA] a retired employee at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, died Thursday at Belmont Terrace Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 2, 1897, in Sultan, Snohomish County, where he was raised by his pioneer settler parents.

After his schooling, Mr. Cass worked in various logging camps for several years. He married Ruth Bottman in Everett in 1925. They made their home in Snohomish County for several years. In 1940, he moved to Bremerton and was employed at PSNS and his family moved here a short time later. Mr. Cass retired from Shop No. 2, the transportation department at PSNS, in 1962. He was a member of the Sons of Norway in Bremerton.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Elaine Swiech of Seattle and Maxine Inks, both of Moses Lake, Grant County; a brother, Lee Cass of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Memorials may be mae to the American Cancer Society.

Attached below is a listing of SAYLES family members (and, two other individuals) who were buried in Lot 5, Section 2 of the Manlius Village Cemetery.

Catherine SAYLES Cass (d. April 1875) and her husband, Hezekiah Cass (d. July 1893), are buried in the Manlius Village Cemetery.

Catherine's sister, Almira Sayles, is buried nearby in Lot 5, Section 2; as were their parents, William W. Sayles and Lydia Pearce. The 22 year-old son of Pliny & Nancy Sayles (Hiram C. Sayles), is also buried nearby.

Also in the same ''family plot'' are two additional women.
QUESTION: Would anyone know how Esther Severance and Mary L. Merrill are connected to this Sayles family??.

I have a wedding invitation sent to my Mother from Mr. & Mrs. Wesley Wood announcing marriage of their daughter, Zella to Lorne Cass on Nov. 18th, 1913 in Sibley, Iowa. At bottom of invitation it says: at home in Mitchell, S.D. after Dec 1st.

I also have 2 photos of Zella. One is a very small (looks like school photo) one. On the back it says: Zella Wood, Mason City 1907. The second one is a postcard photo of Zella with another woman and a baby. On the back it says: Clara & her baby and Zella, Feb 1912. I believe Clara is my grandmother's sister who also lived in Mitchell.

David Cass, son of John and Alice (Brown) Cass, was born at Cumberland RI 9 August 1747. He moved to Richmond NH with his parents, probably about 1770. He married Kesiah Arnold of Smithfield RI 7 June 1781 (Arnold, Vital Record of RI, 3:Smithfield Marriages, 24).

According to the 1882 Richmond town history, he sold his farm in Richmond about 1794 and moved away. (Note that the town history has an incorrect date for his marriage). It says they had two daughters, Lydia and Freelove.

Where did they move? Did they have any other children?

Background:

Have a Cass (CAST) line coming forward from 1550 to Iredell/Wilkes Co, NC ... James (Cast) Cass and Nancy (Moody) Cass - large property holders on the boarders of these counties. James (Cast) Cass came over from England and his linage in documented back to the mid-1500!

Records that show James (1730-1815) & Nancy (Moody) (1735-1820) Cass did have a son - James S. - in abt 1770 ... but more recent internet findings indicate that son James S. married an Elizabeth Moody and had about 9 kids - the names of which don't match Aaron's clan.

Have Cass line going back from Kansas, to Indiana, to Iredell/Wilkes Co NC ... James Cass (born abt 1770) and Sarah (?) also had 9 kids (including Aaron Cass).

Families in same place at same time but link between the two families - if it exists - is unclear.

Any help is appreciated.

I very recently found out that my husband's grandfather had at LEAST one brother and one sister that our family didn't know about.
Sophie Cass was born in Chicago in 1882. She married Henry Kloss and died in Chicago in 1956, no children.
Now the brother, Thomas Cass, date and place of birth unknown. He was married to Rose Gabryck and they had at least one child, Rose Irene Cass, who was born 12-12-13in Chicago and died 02-79 in Franklin Park, Illinois.
Their parents would have been Ignatius and Cecelia (Tobiaski) Cass, they are buried in Chicago.
My husband's grandfather was Frank Michael Cass, born in 1884 in Chicago, Il. and died there.

Hi. I am looking for him or his family. (He would have been born probably between 1915 and 1926)

He was in the Army Airborne during WW2. He was in the 17th Airborne Division/139th Engineer Battalion at one time in his military career and possibly transferred to the 101st or the 82nd Airborne when the 17th was disbanded in 1945. He would have been in the Engineer Battalion, HQ & S or medical.

I am in the process of writing a book about the Battalion and would like to have him contact me. If he is no longer with us, I'd like the family to touch base with me to give me a summary of his life since the service. This also will be in the book.

I have also succeeded in getting these WW2 Heros to touch base again with their comrades after not seeing each other for almost 60 years. Their reunions have been wonderful.

This project is so important because 17 million personnel files were destroyed in the 1973 file in St. Louis MO. I want to make sure that these men will never be forgotten and will be put in the history books for generations to come!

Thank you for all leads to help me on this tribute to our WW2 Heros.

Does anybody have a Cass family that has a daughter named Olive Amelia Cass, born in 1853. Olive said that she was born in Wisconsin and that she was the last child in the family. She goes by her middle name Amelia. She had a hearing problem and I wonder if she was put in a school for the deaf children. This is the only family living in Buffao NY that matches Elizabeth..

The 1880 census shows the family

Elizabeth Cass age 42 br Eng Widow....
John Cass age 13 br NY
Mary Cass age 10 same
William Cass age 7 same
Frederick Cass age 4

The Elizabeth Holden we are looking for was br St Helens Lancs England in 1837 or 38 parents were James Holden and Christina nee Brice/Brew ....James died in St Helens in late 1840 and after 1851 UK census Christina and all Children left England and came to Buffalo NY...found them in the 1860 1870 and 1880 census ...we lost Elizabeth in the 1870 census and found a marriage for a E Holden to a J CASS on May 8 1866 that was reported in the Buffalo Commercial Advertiser May 9 1866....I went to the 1880 US census on the LDS site and found the above who I think might be her..

Does anyone have this CASS family?

I am helping my friend Glen Cass Logsdon search for his father, Clifford Clarence Cass. We assume that he is dead, but need medical information about him as Glen has multiple physical ailments that need to be found as hereitary or ruled out as hereitary. If anyone has any information please contact asap. Clifford Clarence Cass married Marguerite Lillian Stanbaugh in Chicago, Illinois on January 29, 1930. They divorced prior to Glen's birth and Glen was born on August 11, 1932. His mother gave him his stepfather's name, but he has no info concerning his father...not even a birthdate, so please if anyone can help us find out about Clifford Cass, please contact us asap.

I think she had a husband before Clabe and his name was Collier.
Annie and McBryde are buried in Lovington, Lea Co., NM
Cass Draw near Loving, NM is named for her family.
I think the Cass family came from Tenn.

My late Dad & his sister spent 50 years trying to find out the parents of their g-grandmother, Harriet Phoebe WILDER, who married John Tedder MILLION, 1839, La Salle Co, IL.
Now 99% certain that Harriet's parents were Orrin Wilder and Anna (-------), who originated in NY, to Ashtabula Co, OH in 1830s, to Ogle Co, IL by 1840.
Harriet named one of her 16 children Lewis Cass Ogle Million, and another Richard Kell Million. If I can find any links with the Cass Family that include Wilder, Ogle, Kell, Million, then I hope to give a last name to Anna (---------). Any help? Thanks.

Have found a wedding invitation from Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Wood announcing marriage of their daughter Zella Myrtle to Lorne R. Cass on Nov. 18, 1913 in Sibley, IA. Also have what appears to be small school photo of Zella from Mason City in 1907 and of Zella with Clara Curten who may possibly be the sister of my grandmother Mary Rogers Heath. LEXINGTON, Ky., June 22.--Henderson Cass, aged seventy-six years, was horse-whipped in public to-day by his wife by order of Judge Riley, before whom Cass was arraigned on a warrant sworn out by his wife, charging him with squandering his pension money and habitual drunkenness. Judge Riley obtained a buggy whip and instructed Mrs. Cass to lay it on the naked back of her husband until he promised to do better.

After several hard blows before a curious crowd the veteran begged for mercy, and promised he would turn his money over to his wife every quarter. He was allowed to depart with his wife amid the cheers of the crowd.
