My grandfather was Mario Cassano, from Bari Italy. I know he had brothers, uncles and a large family. Although his family was from Bari (city), he resided in Sannicandro di Bari. He married Lucrezia (Onorato) and they had 4 children Girolama (Gemina),Angela (Angelina), Angelo (my father), 4th child (name unknow). My udnerstanding is that the baby died along with his mother due to pneumonia. My grandfather remarried to Elisa (Elizabetta)....if any of these names are familiar to you, or the story is familiar, please connect with me...thank you.

Emily Bessie Aurora Cassano or Robertson married Alfred Edward Marshall 1930 Qld probably Brisbane

I am looking for any information on Emily Bessie Aurora Cassano (or sometimes known as Emily Bessie Aurora Robertson after her mother remarried) who married Alfred Edward Marshall probably in Brisbane Queensland Australia in 1930.
They are on the Queensland electoral roll as living at 40 Mulgrave St, Spring Hill with Alfred's occupation as Secretary.
By the 1943 roll, Alfred is not living with Emily but there is a Joyce Estelle Marshall living with Emily.
Joyce may be Alfred's mother, sister or child from a previous marriage.
Emily was born in 1897 to Ada Emily James & George Cassano in north Queensland.
I have no details for Alfred Edward Marshall.

Any info would be great

My grandmother was Connie Cassano. Her mother was Rose Carrescia. You will find much information on the Carrescia and related families at

The Carrescia family will be having our 50th reunion the first Saturday in August, 2009 in Roseto, PA.

By the way, the Mayor of Roseto is a Carrescia descendant!

My father is a Cassano but we do not keep in contact with eachother. I feel that I have a whole other family out there but I have no idea how to even trace them. I do not know anything about them. The only thing I have heard is that they lived in Los Angeles for awhile. My father said he had two or three brothers, but that is all I know. I would love to find out more.

My grandmother was a Cassano, and I've done some research on the Cassanos. Do you know when your ancestors came over from Italy? Were they ever in Bethlehem, PA?

I recently added a new adition to my family which has sparked an interest to trace back my family. Cassanio is about the closest i have come to cassanio. Maybe something was misspelled at Ellis island? My grandfather is as far back as i have been able to go he was Mike Cassanio from dayton ohio. Any one with any info let me know

Hi Alisyn, Thanks. I'm hoping that your Dad remembers something. My family started out in Brooklyn but by the early 1930's they had moved to Staten Island. My grandmother, Laura Cassano Carocccia and her 2 sisters Philomena Cassano Santamaria and Vita Cassano Scarano, all lived together. My grandmother had 9 children, her sisters had none. I also remember that Uncle Tom(Gaetano) Santamaria was a big man who walked with 2 canes. I don't know why, but we never called him Uncle, he was always referred to as something that sounds like "say don". Hope this helps. Many thanks, Laura

I think I might remember an uncle Dominick from when I was little. Both of my grandparents are deceased but I can check with my dad to see what he knows. Flatbush sounds familiar. I had a cousin Tonia, but I don't remember whether she was on the Liantonio or Murano side. I'll let you know what I find out.

Hi, I spoke to my uncle and he remembers a Dominick Liantonio and his family. He says they were frequent visitors when he was young. Dominick had 3 children, 2 boys/1girl and he thinks they lived in Flatbush. I'm trying to pin him down to a time frame, but I would guess he's talking about the 1940's to the late 1950's??? Does any of this mean anything to you? He also says they all had something to do with the "ice/coal business"; the Cassano's, the Caroccia's, the Santamaria's and the Liantonio's. If there is anything else you can share, I would appreciate it. Thanks. Laura

Perhaps our gmothers were friends. Mine was born Rosa Murano, I believe in Brooklyn. She married Thomas (Tomasso) Liantonio, originally from Bari? They moved to Nutley, NJ. My grandfather had an ice business. I believe my grandmother used to be a seamstress in Brooklyn.

Does anyone have ANY info or remember these names from there family trees maybe. My grandparents came from Italy they settled in Brooklyn Cumberland Street for many years. My grandmother may have been know by Jennie after a few years here. The had a boy that was run over by a ice cream truck about a week before my grandfather, a security guard, was shot and killed in a holdup in a fur factory. Approx 1925. They might have had another child or two who died ill health there living children were. Frank Cassano, Angela, Antonette, Filomena, Millie not sure of Italian name, Teresa. Un fortunatly no older people in family left who can give us any info no one ever had anything written. The older relatives that are alive do not remember anything. So I don't have much help. My gmother was Laura Cassano from Palo del colle Bari. She came here, to Brooklyn, abt 1915. She married Fiore (Fiorentino) Caroccia. They had 9 children. She had 2 sisters, that I know of, Filomena (married to Gaetano Santamaria- no children) and Vita (married to Domenick Scarano- no children). I know she lived in Brooklyn until abt 1935 moving to Staten Island. I also remember there was a connection to an ice business.And the last name Liantonio(not sure of the spelling) rings a bell but I don't know why. Does any of this sound familiar to you?

I have moved and i have not been able to get on line for awhile so i have not been able to keep track of my ancestry. I would still like to know if anyone knows of a Dominick and Innocenza Cassano (Jenny) or Carlo and Philomena Veltri, Francesco Bonnano. They all came from Italy, Calabria and settled in Brooklyn. Flatbush, Mulbury Street. My grandfather was killed in robbery he was security guard at warehouse in Bklyn. Help me please anybody! I am still trying to research Cassanos, Bonannos and cannot seem to find birth, marriage or death certificates. I cannot seem to find anything on Dominick and Innocenza Cassano except on the manifest from Ellis Island my grandmother Innocenza came in 1902 and was listed as Junanza. Im guessing that is her. But cannot find a Dominick Cassano that seems to match.

John, thank you so much for your updated reply. You're right...it is a little confusing but I think I understand. I believe now it might be possible that your mother's Uncle Joseph might be my grandfather's father...who knows for sure--that's what the fun of genealogy research is all about, eh?

Do you happen to know Antoinette's or her Uncle Joseph's birth dates? That would also help a lot. If not, I'll see what I can find out from my "side".

actually i m still now in Ruvo di Puglia, all's fine here and i was just curios to see perhaps someone left this town to settle there.
My mum's own surname is Cassano too and my grandfather was Andrea Cassano.

My grandfather was Giovanni Carrescia and my grandmother was Nunzia Carrescia. They came from Foggia, Italy. My grandfather had a brother, Michele Carrescia, and sisters but I am not sure of all of their names. I, too, am trying to find the rest of the family.

I did not find too much more except that
Mary is interred in Holy Saviour Cemetery in
Bethlehem,Pa.Headstone is dated 1875 - 1955
I am not sure if the dates fit what you are
looking for,also a son Michael H.1908-1963
and Anna M.1910-0000.There was also a Mary
(Cassano)Wrescics who originated from Heller-
town,she moved to Florida.She had two sons
one(Michael deceased at 6 mos.Another son
Anthony assumed still living.I hope this will

What a coincidence I also had an Uncle Joseph
Cassano who resided in Bethlehem,Pa.,he also
had (3) brothers:
Michael Cassano orig. of Bethlehem,Pa
who moved to Massachussets.
Anthony Cassano who had also resided
in Bethlehem.
Charles is an uncle who resides in Hellertown beind the police station.He had
m.Ann Cassano,there was my mother Elizabeth
Cassano,and Katherine Cassano.These were all
children of Clement and Rosa Cassano my
grandparents who came over from Italy ab.1906
My Aunt Kate had told me of this Cassano
from Hellertown,her name was Mary she had
four sons one deceased she had lived on Flint
Hill Rd.just above My Aunt Connie,whose real
name was Incoronata which was the fourth Cas-

HI. THanks for responding to my message. My dad Joseph Cassano had an Uncle Clement. I don't know his wife's name but he had a daughter living in Hellertown years ago. COuld this be a relative of yours mine? My grandmother was first married to Joseph Cassano they lived in Bethlehem had 4 sons, MY dad, Michael,Anthony Charles. He died around 1917 on my father's seventh birthday. HIs mother married Guisippe Bucci moved to Nazareth. I hope this is a relative because I finally know where our relatives are from in Italy.
