Classification: Query
Surnames: Cassels, Cassillis, Sutherland, Kinninmont, Laing, Alexander, Hill, Mitchell, Gib, Spiers, Ritchie, Hodgson
I have been trying to track my ancestry back and forward for about 4 years. I have gone back from my gf Angus (born in Ontario, Canada) to my ggf David (Married to Barbara Sutherland, both of Scotland), to my gggf John (b. 1791 in Scotland and married to Christian/Christane Euphr Kinninmont). All of this I have absolute knowledge of and have pictures). From John (1791) my research leads me to John (1752 married to Jean Laing) then to John (1724 married to Rachel Alexander, but here some research shows a John 1728 married to Rachel Alexander) then to John (1700 married to Isabel Hill, but if you take the John 1728 then you go to a William Cassels b. 1686 and married to Elizabeth Mitchell.
I then recently received data on a James Cassillis (b 1642 and married to a Euphemia b. 1623. That line moves forward to Andrew Cassels married to Hannah Gib to forward to a James Cassels married to Hannah Spiers then forward to another Andrew married Margaret Ritchie and then to a James Cassels married to a Mary Hodgson.
The line from me back to about 1700 does not appear to meet with the line coming forward from James Cassillis.
Does anyone have any ideas where to go.
