George H. Cassen

George H. Cassen was born in Providence R.I. on June 9, 1919. At the age of two his parents, Herbert Leander Allen Cassen and Edna M. Taylor, left him in Providence and returned to N.S. Canada. We are trying to determine who looked after George, perhaps a family or an orphanage.

Mary "Polly" Cassen (mar.William Lowe)

I'm looking for any info on my G-G-G-G-grandmother named Mary "Polly" Cassen/Casen. All I know about her is that she was born about 1792, place unknown, and married William Lowe. They had a daughter named Nancy W. Lowe born 1824 probably in GA, and died 29 Nov 1870 in Leake County, MS (mar. Andrew Jackson Long about 1861 in MS?). I have lots of info on Nancy's descendants, but nothing on her parents. Any leads on Mary "Polly" Cassen/Casen will be greatly appreciated!

I haven't come across any families from Ireland in my limited research, nor is my mother aware of family going to Ireland. I have come across the Cassen name in records from several different countries in Western Europe, including Belgium and Germany. Also, interestingly, several men with the last name of Cassen (the two first names I remember are William and Thomas) were in the first group at Jamestown, Virginia. I really don't know much about the history of the Cassen surname, but my mother's family goes back in the Landes region of France several centuries. Joanne
