Just wondering if they were in the same family because I show a Winney and Susannah but I might have been Sarah instead.

He had the following brothers & sisters: Jacob Jackson, Thurmond, Elizabeth who died in childbirth & buried in Walker Co, AL.; Jenny who was burned to death as a child & is also buried in Walker Co near Dora.

Looking for the family of E. W. Castleberry. His middle name may be Woodruff, and he was also known as Woodie. He was born about 1870, possibly in MS. The tombstone that I believe to be his says his parents were S. E. and M. J. Castleberry from MS. Woodie moved to TX and married Susan Reece 15 Aug 1899. They had two sons, Paris and Claud. The family seems to have lived in the Tarrant Co. area. Susan died in 1905 of blood poisoning, and Woodie died in 1913 of pneumonia.
Any information would be appreciated.

Footnote to original message: Ernest Castleberry at some point changed his name to Ernest Castle. It is my understanding that one time he was involved in a bus accident, possibly Greyhound. He did received a settlement relating to this accident. U.S. Welfare Department did assign a representative to look after Ernest following this accident and settlement. It was shortly thereafter that all communication was lost by the family. Could he have been a victim of foul play???

Hi Sue,

Someone sent me a bunch of info on the Castleberry's that I'd be happy to share. Heinrich and Catherine Kesselberg (Castleberry) had 8 children: William, Derrick, Eve, John, Paul Peter, Elizabeth Mary and Katherine. I'd have to look it up, but I know one son migrated to NC and on to AL. I'm descended from the line that moved to NC, then GA and on to AR.

The information I have showed he arrived in PA on board the ship Concord in 1683 at the age of 22.

Let me know if you would like me to round up the info and send it to you.

Milton Castleberry (b. ca 1832 Houston. Co Ga.) married Annis R. Gay (b. March 1837 Florida) June 12, 1856 in Jackson County, Florida. They lived in Thomas Co. Ga. Their children were:

I am Kathleen b: 25 Oct 1962 in Big Spring Texas. I was adopted by the Casey/Pollock family. I found out recently that I was born baby girl Castleberry. I have been doing research on my adopted family and my husbands line for years. I ran across the Castleberry line next to my adopted name and was wondering if there was a connection. WILTON, Iowa - Nancy M. Castleberry, 60, of Wilton, died on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
Service will be at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Ray and Jamie Oehme will officiate the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Nancy was born on March 11, 1947, in Muscatine, the daughter of Paul and Bessie Hein Lick.
She married Leonard ‘Ray’ Castleberry on March 17, 1992, in Muscatine.
Nancy was a very avid gardener.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard ‘Ray’ Castleberry of Wilton; one son, Dave Schare of Wilton; one daughter, Dana Bain and husband, Rob, of Sunrise, Arizona; three step-children, Michele Castleberry of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Melissa Castleberry of Wilton, Rich Castleberry and wife, Aimee Jo, of Baraboo, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Chelsie Bain, Amelia Lick, Joseph Barreto, Austin Castleberry and Kaylee Castleberry; her mother, Bessie Lick of Wilton; three brothers, Lanny Lick and wife, Carol, of Muscatine, Daniel Lick Sr. and wife, Kristin, of Muscatine and Rick Lick and wife, Brenda, of Illinois City, Illinois; many loved nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Lick, and one granddaughter, Brittney Schare.

Catherine Martha (Castleberry) Dobbins (1858-1935)

Catherine Martha Castleberry married Thomas Butler Dobbins in 1879. They both died in Hamlin, Jones County, Texas in 1935 and 1933, respectively. She wrote an article or letter regarding a double wedding that occurred in Rutherford County, NC. The two couples reportedly honeymooned on a trip via covered wagon caravan to Cobb County, GA.

The two honeymoon couples were:
1)Wade Hill Wallace and Martha Lou Dobbins (sister of Andrew J. Dobbins)- marriage bond dated 28 Dec 1865.

2) Martha Ann Wallace (sister of Wade Hill Wallace) and Andrew J. Dobbins - married on 28 Dec 1865.

Both Andrew and Martha Dobbins were siblings of Thomas Butler Dobbins.

Can anyone help me track down a copy of this writing about the double weddding and honeymoon? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sherri, your Milton Castleberry might be related to my Castleberry. My ancestor was Mary Castleberry who married Henry Bryan. They were from Georgia and South Carolina. Their son Milton Bryan was born in 1851 in Alabama. Your Milton Castleberry and my Mary Castleberry would have been very close in age. If they were siblings, Milton Bryan might have been named after his uncle Milton Castleberry. If you would like, you can e-mail me.

Mary Castleberry and Henry Bryan

I am hoping that somebody might have some info on Mary Castleberry. She married Henry Bryan and their son Milton Harrison Bryan was born 27 March 1851 on a plantation on the Cahawba River in Alabama.

Milton Harrison Bryan or Milton H. Bryan as he went by was my great grandfather. He moved to Mobile where he died. His death certificate states that Mary Castleberry and Henry Bryan were born in Castleberry, Alabama. However some census gives his parents' birth states as Georgia and South Carolina.

I am at a dead end and would love any information on Mary Castleberry and who her parents might be.
