Hi Adam,
What a coincidence, my ggrandfather William Way had an older brother Albert Edward Way that also emigrated to Australia (NSW) Also around the turn of the century. I was successful in retrieving his death certificate verifying he was in fact my Albert Edward Way and had served in the Royal Navy prior to his emigration.

I am looking for the two girls named in my post and am wondering if they appear in your family tree.

I have reached a dead-end on them so far.

Thanks and God Bless,
Fred Dunn

I haven't seen or spoken to them since I was about 12 and they visited us in Chicago.
I have a wedding photo of Hoyt and Violet. It was among my mother's posessions. Is there anything you want to know about my mother, Hoyt's sister?
Hope to hear from you soon.
Jane

Fred,

I'm sorry but I can't help you on this one. All of my Castletons were from Norfolk. The latest Castleton on my line is Martha who married John Lake in 1859.

You might try contacting Pauline Skegg (pjskegg@hotmail.com) who is researching London Castletons.

You mentioned the 1881 census. I presume you are aware this is searchable on familysearch.org, but I could not find your William, or indeed any Castletons with Somerset connections.

Good luck. If you ever find a connection with Castletons of Norfolk please let me know as I might then be able to help.

Trevor

Trevor,
I am looking for a female surnamed "Way" Born between 1855 and 1865. She married a William Castleton before the 1881 census and according to My Great-grandfather's obituary was still alive in 1919 when he died. The problem is that I have no info on her other than her husband's name. The obituary indicated they lived in London but the same obituary indicated that my great grandfather was from London when in fact he was from Somerset. Any information would be of assistance.

Thanks,
Fred Dunn
San Antonio, TX

William Castleton

I am seeking confirmation of birth or baptism of William Castleton. He is shown on the IGI as born 1774 Bunwell, Norfolk, England son of William and Susanna Castleton, and died after 1851. This has presumably come from the census although he is not on the Norfolk 1851 census.

I have searched the Bunwell register and found the marriage of William Castleton and Susanna Sturman in 1771and the marriage of William Castleton and Charlotte Butcher 1802 but William Castleton's baptism around 1774 is not recorded. Could he have been baptised elsewhere?

Any information appreciated. Happy to share Castleton history.

Trevor Lake

I just got this board approved and added to Ancestry.Com because I am searching for any information on "Will" Castleton (unknown whether Will was short for William) and in particular his wife. Her first name is unknown and her maiden surname was Way. She was the daughter of William and Charlotte Way. She would have been born between about 1855 and 1865 and most likely from Somerset, England. They later moved to London as per her brother William Henry Way's obituary in 1919. Unknown if they had any children.

Thanks,
Fred Dunn
