TAYLOR RIDGE, Ill.
Mary Gertrude Castor, 88, of Taylor RIDGE, Ill., died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at the Lutheran Homes in Muscatine.
Services will be at the Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Bob Anderson of Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church will officiate. Organist will be Jeanean Kimbal. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church following the service.
Visitation will be at the church. Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Castor was born April 21, 1912, in rural Buffalo Prairie, Ill. She married John V. Castor on Feb. 20, 1935, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
She was a member of the Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church where she served as elder and was a member of the Women's Society. She was a member of the Hazel Dell Community Club and the Farm Bureau.
She and her husband worked side by side on the family farm until John's death.
Survivors include a daughter, Cherryl Mueller and her husband, George, of Taylor Ridge; grandchildren, David and Karen Mueller of Aurora, Ill., Melinda and John Wiborg of Des Moines, Melissa and Dustin of Joy, Ill., George Christopher and Amy Mueller of Bloomington, Ill.; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Everett Hessman and his wife, Evelyn, of Taylor Ridge; four sisters, Lulella Doonan and her husband, James, of Reynolds, Ill., Ruby Castle and her husband, Lynn, of Joy, Martha Kirkland of Taylor RIDGE, and Eileen Anderson of Solon; two sisters-in-law, Bessie Castor of Aledo and Vella Hessman of Reynolds; a brother-in-law, Paul Castor of Taylor RIDGE.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John on March 12, 1991; two brothers, Elmo and Donald Hessman; three sisters, Elda Cox, Dora Keller and Ellen Bryant.

Helen Louise Castor, 82, Reynolds, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, Ill.
Burial will be at Edgington Cemetery.
Memorials may be left for the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Castor was born March 30, 1924, in Drury Township, Ill., the daughter of Clyde and Ella Meade Webster. She married Eugene R. Castor on Aug. 20, 1941, at home.
She attended Reynolds High School.
She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the operation of their family farm. She was also a caregiver to area families and member of Antioch Baptist Church.
She collected salt and pepper shakers, having a collection of more than 1,000 sets from all over the world. She enjoyed watching birds from her deck especially hummingbirds and she loved to watch them feed and nest in bird houses made by her husband.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Joanne Anderson and husband Jim of Aledo and Carolyn Vance of Rock Island; a son, Gary Castor and wife Janet of Reynolds; six grandchildren, Sheri Pikuza of Moline, Ill., Terry Vance of Dunlap, Ill., Tara Anderson of St. Louis, Kimberly Sheese, Pamela Ricke and Lisa Price, all of Aledo; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister, Beulah Brierly of Aledo; and a special friend, Jim Dunn of Reynolds.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.

Anna Cawiezell, 81, of Rock Island, Ill., died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at her home.
Services will be at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral home. The Rev. Allen Nelson will officiate. Burial will be at the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Phillips, Joshua Hoover, Jared Hoover, Todd Schneider, John Frieden and Norman Cawiezell.
Mrs. Cawiezell was born March 7, 1918, in Wilton, the daughter of Hans and Amelia Ovesen Hansen. She married George A. Cawiezell in Missouri. She lived in Rock Island for the past 20-25 years. Prior to that she lived in the Muscatine area. She was of the Lutheran faith and past member of the Davenport Mercy Auxiliary and the Muscatine Women of the Moose. She graduated from Wilton High School and enjoyed traveling and family. She was retired having worked at Ripley's Inc., Royal Neighbors of America and was Muscatine County Auditor for a few years. Survivors include a brother, Henry Hansen and his wife, Marilyn, of Muscatine; two sisters, Bernice Phillips and her husband, Stuart, of Mansfield, Ohio and Odetta Carter of Rock Island; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; a brother Wallace Hansen and his wife, Dorothy; a sister, June Garvin and her husband, Glenn, and a brother-in-law, Paul Carter.
