This drives me nuts!! I HAVE to find out...it's like a soap opera. My grandmother (Evelyn Cato Bjorngaard) told me something about the younger Sarah Cato having a brother that was wanted for murder so he moved to Texas and made it big. Don't know how much of that is true or if it's just more family gossip.

jlocato1@embarqmail.com Bette Cato was my husband's step mother. She was married to my father in law John (Jack) F. Cato. I know Bette had one adopted son, Duane, you must be his daughter. He must be in possession of the watch Jack wanted left to his oldest son, my husband John L. Cato. Bette couldn't part with it and she said Duane had strict orders that on her death the watch would be given to Jack's firstborn. I'll bet it's on Duanes wrist, he never even contacted us. If he wants to know where to mail the watch, just send me an email. Last time I saw Bette, she came to visit us here in TX..with a friend, I can't remember friends name but it started with a D.

Descendent of Wesley Ellsworth Cato

Wesley Ellsworth Cato is my grandfather; he is 81 and lives in Waco, TX now. He was orphaned in Drew County Arkansas. I think he had a brother named Junior that was orphaned there as well (in the early 1920s). I think his parents were Andrew (52 years old in the 1920 census) and Ora (29 years old in the 1920 census) Cato, but again I am not sure. In the 1920 census three children are listed (Junior, 11 months old, two unknown, and Wesley was yet to be born). On my father's birth certificate Wesley Ellsworth Cato is listed as the father and his race is listed as Indian. This is the information I have. I am just getting started, and would appreciate any information/assistance anyone else has/can give regarding my family.

The Grahams moved to Leake, MS about 1845. They had at least 3 sons, James Monroe, Alex Lucious, and William all born in SC. Alex died about 1862, probably in war. William moved to TX and died there. James remained in Leake MS. John H Graham died in 1850 just before the census and is included in the mortality schedule. Rebecca lived with family in Leake until the 1880's.

So definatly some skeletons there.
I wish I could find out more, but I have not been able to. I do have a picture of her, I uploaded it here. I got it from my dad's counsin's.. who had the original.
She's about 14 in the pic.. with a shotgun and buckskin dress... :)

Re: ARKANSAS CATO'S

Hi.. I am a descendant from George Edwin Cato. From the records given to me, my father, it lists George as marrying Euphemia Rieff in 1822. They had 10 children. 5 born in Tennessee, and 5 born in Illinois. The children I have listed are as: Marie Jane Born:12-17-1822 John Henry B:1-15-1826 Amanda Cathern B: 2-08-1828 George Washington B: 8-06-1929 Nancy Melvina B: 3-31-1832 James Taris B: 6-02-1833 VM.Marcus B: 6-24-1838 Rufus Edwin B:6-24-1938 Andrew Jackson B: 3-15-1840 I am a descendant of Rufus Edwin Cato and Cynthia Davis. Rufus and Cynthia married 1859. George Edwin Cato traveled in 1831 overland from Tennessee to Illinois. Apparently they both died in Illinois. When George Edwin Cato died, the estate was divided among children. Rufus Cato sold his portion to brother-in-law Jim McPheron (Cathern Cato's husband)./ Euphemia was living with daughter (Cathern McPheron) in 1882 when Euphemia died at age of 82. On some of the notes, I read: "George E. Cato had one brother raised by a relative. Brother moved to the southern states.
Rufus Edwin Cato and Cynthia Davis Cato had Nine children. Laura Addra B: 11-05-1860 Mary Blanche B: 10-15-1862 Amanda Cathern B: 12-22-1864 Daniel "Mack" McKinley B: 7-20-1867 Cora Getty 9-30-1869 Nora Anna B: 12-06 1872 Julius Edwin B:7-15-1864 Jennie Belle B: 04-21-1877 Euphemia "Fame"Myrtle B: 12-14-1879 My lineage continues through Jennie Belle Cato the 8th child of Rufus Cato and Cynthia Davis Cato. Jennie Belle married Lewis Edwin NOBLE SR. who had a son named LEWIS EDWIN NOBLE JR who had a son (my father) ROBERT LEWIS NOBLE who was my father, I had a son MATTHEW MILO CARSEN who is single and not a father yet. I have a daughter: JULIE ANN YVONNE CARSEN. I have some information on other descendants also, mainly about Nora Anna (daughter to Rufus and Cynthia Cato).
Thank you for your kind offer to provide information about Green Cato and Rhoda Alley Cato. One of the things I hope to find is a second piece of evidence that connects Green to his father Roland Sr. All I have is Roland's will which shows Green as one of the heirs.

Is communicating this way okay for what you have or do we need to find a a different way to do it?

Many thanks.

I descend from Roland (Sr) Cato's son Green and wife Rhoda Alley who moved to Dubois County IN circa 1820. I am interested in Green Cato, and Roland Sr, and Alley family connections.

Martha Ann Cato had 16 children so this could be Clara's sisters.

ancestors.legacy@gmail.com

I am not sure if anyone will be able to help me - but any information I can get will be greatly appreciated. I was researching my family tree and it seems as though I am at a road block....from all the information I have been able to find, A John C. Bodiford was my 3rd great grandfather. But not from a child with Martha Coons - My 3rd great grandmother's name was Sarah Cato. I have found some things saying they were married and then other's saying they were never married. They had 2 sons - John Brekenridge Cato b.1965 and Enoch Cato b.1870. The only "family story" we have ever heard was that my grandmother's great grandfather was a "medicine doctor" and married a Creek Indian woman. Have you ever heard this story??? I can not find ANY information on Sarah Cato's family before her. She first appears on the 1850 census for Coffee County in the same house with Thomas Morris (26) - and his wife and 4 young children AND a Keziah Kelley (45) Sarah Cato (11). Then again as Sarah Kato in the 1880 census (40) as a single laborer.

Thank you,

Jessica Buchikos
