I have very little photos of my grandparents, as my parents are both deceased. In fact my mother died a year ago March 20,2005. I know there are lots of pictures still in the family and I would be more than willing to ask my brothers about some. I remember my dad talking about a Mary Booth several years ago.
Looks like Thomas married Clara about 1910-1912. Their children were born in 1918 and 1920. By the 1930 Census, however, Clara and her 10-year old son were living in Cicero, Illinois, with no mention of Thomas.
His marriage to Margaret Davis was 18 Jul 1941.
Is it possible he was married to Rena Yoho sometime between 1920 and 1941?

Thanks again. Unfortunately, the 1911 census doesn't offer more information. My grandfather James Caughey was born Dec. 1887. He emigrated to NYC in 1926 and his wife and 4 children came over in Oct. 1928. James Caughey was a garage hand in New York. I don't know what he did in Ballylone, Ballynahinch. According to the 1911 census, it only listed the sister, Mary and brother Joseph. I don't know of any other siblings. On Ros Davies website a Joseph Caughey is listed as working in a Drumaness Mill in 1938, perhaps this could be James' brother.

I believe James is my grandfather. All were Roman Catholic. In addition, I found William Caughey (born in England) age 45 Labourer, wife Mary, age 45, daugher Mary age 16 (mill worker), and son, Joseph Caughey age 8 (Scholar). I don't know if this was Daniel's son William.
Would anyone know who owned Caughey's Garage in Ballynahinch?

I checked the 1901 census and found Daniel Caughey, Roman Catholic, age 67 Farm Labourer (Deaf) - his wife, Margaret, age 65, his daughter, Catherine Caughey age 47 (Deaf & Imbecile) and my grandfather, James Caughey age 13, Scholar. So far, no other luck regarding siblings or James' parents William Caughey or Mary McComb

I only know that Mary McComb's father was Robert McComb which was information I looked up from the marriage in 1876 to William Caughey. I think the parish was Magheradrool. They were Roman Catholic, if that's any help. I forgot what website but there was once a mention of Robert McComb leasing land to Daniel Cahy in 1863 which may have been my ggg grandfather Daniel Caughey. There was also an newspaper article I believe on Ros Davies website that appeared in the Mourne Observer regarding Daniel Caughey. But I have no further information on the McCombs, but I would love to find out if there was a connection.

In the 1911 Census for County Down, I found Mary Caughy Widow, age 53, Mary Caughy, daughter age 25 and Joseph Caughy, son,age 18 at House #43 in Dunmore, Down. Town: Drumaness, Barony: Kinelarty Parish: Magheradrool
Poor Law Union: Downpatrick Sub-District: Ballynahinch
I believe this is my great grandmother on my father's side. She was married to William Caughey and they married in 1876. Her maiden name was McComb and her father's name was Robert. My grandfather was not listed on the page, he was James Caughey born in 1887 and may have been out of the house by then. Can anyone contribute any more information?
Leigh,
The original Thomas you questioned was really Thomas A. Miskelly. My dad is the Donald you referred to and Clara, his mother, was divorced from Thomas. Jean died as a small child and my grandfather(Thomas) married Margaret Davis. I think the Caughey was a family name but the Thomas you referred to was Thomas Miskelly.

Peggy

Robert, Thank you for the information. All I know is that I found a Rena and Thomas Caughey in the 1920 Los Angeles census that I believe to be the couple I am looking for. His birthdate is listed about 1888 in Illinois. They were married at the time of the census 1920 and apparently were still married at the time of her death in 1923 in Oklahoma.
It does not appear that Thomas Anderson Caughey is my man.
I am afraid my search for this man will be by process of elimination. I appreciate your help. Keep me in mind if you happen to run across another Thomas A Caughey in your research.
Leigh

Thanks you for the information. I am not sure that this is the Thomas A Caughey that I am looking for. Your information makes me doubt that this is the correct person. However, do you have the dates of the two marriages you mentioned?
I am guessing that the Thomas Caughey and Rena Yoho I am looking for were married sometime between 1915 and 1920. I found a 1920 Los Angeles census that listed a Thomas and Rena Caughey with Thomas' birthplace listed as Illinois. I thought it might be them. Rena died in 1923 in Tulsa OK.
Your information is appreciated.
Leigh

Thanks Peggy,
I will assume that Thomas Anderson Caughey (Miskelly) is not the T A Caughey that I am looking for. This is a process of elimination to find the second husband of my great grandmother Rena Yoho. A letter from Rena's sister Elsie Levand to my grandfather Jesse Pickerel (AKA George Hardy) states that Rena's married name at her death was Mrs. T. A. Caughey. An obit says it was C.A. Caughey. That is all the concrete info I have.
Thank you for your reply.
Leigh
