Dear Mike Burke,
My great grandparents were Joseph A. Caul and Emma Nolte. I read on Ancestry.com of these discoveries of yours:
Joseph A. Caul was born around 1871 in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. . He worked in the coal mines as a young man. The 1900 census shows him married to Emma (her parents were German) with daughters Anna, Mary, Magdalena, & Barbara. By 1904, Joseph & family had moved to (Bound Break) New Jersey. So, do you think you're related to my Joseph???
I saw you posted the following on the Caul
The town in New Jersey is Bound Brook (where my parents were married). message board at Rootsweb:"I'm researching about Caul's in general but I live in Pittsburgh, PA and I am a Caul and most of the Cauls in my family live around here or the Ambridge area."
I'm traveling to Schuylkill County, PA, in two weeks to research my Caul roots there. Do you have any information on Cauls in PA you could share with me?
My grandfather was William Francis Caul, born in Girardville in 1877. His siblings were Joseph, William, Annie, Ella, Maria, and Bridget. My great grandfather Josua Caul was born somewhere in PA around 1834.
FYI, I'm putting together a database tracking all Cauls in Schuylkill County prior to 1900.
Thanks,
Mike Burke

According to our research, Joshua Caul, my great great grandfather, was born around 1829, married to Mary, had these children--Johnny (1851-), James (1852-), Patrick (1858-), Bridget (1867-), Ellie (1870-), Joseph A., and Maria (1876-), and died around 1915.
I am in touch with two grandchildren of Joseph A. Caul, cousins of my mother.
Looking forward to our collaboration,
Therese
