Hi,
Caroline Cauley was my Great Grandmother.
She was never married, however she did have a daughter ( Mary Frances Cauley ) after being raped by a John Wilkerson of Irish decent. Caroline was from Geneva county Alabama and was full blooded Creek indian.
My grand-dad was Nathanial Asberry Hopkins that married Mary Frances Cauly. He was Cheroke / Creek.
My great grandma Caroline was on the indian rolls, listed to go on the whats known as the trail of tears, but they came to Holt , Fl. to hide.
She had many family members, one of which was George Cauley that fought in the indian war and received a check from the government until he died some time in 1880.
My Mother now dead married her third cousin, my father Charlie Matthew Smith, who was in World WarI and got an Honorable dicharge from same after getting T.B.
He was 24 years older than my mother Adelia Hopkins that was born 1-13-1922, my father was born 11/20/1898 and some say 12/10/1898.
His mother was my mothers / mothers first cousin, her name was Charlotte Woodard, which I am named after. She was also full blooded Creek.
I haven't been able to tie them all in together because of census records not being available to me.
On the Smith side I did find that Red Eagle also know as Wentworth Weatherford Smith was the father of my dad, however my dad was one of his illigimate sons of Red Eagle and therefore not recognized. Red Eagle had many about 15 illigimate children.
Lizar Ward was my Grandfathers mama and she married Asberry Hopkins, but I haven't ever found out when as a fire burned the Family Bible that my mother had when she was still young. So that is why I took advantage of this free service hoping to be able to tie all the information I have obtained in.
The Northwest Florida Creek Indians put me through nursing school back in 1977, because of records from Oklahoma that an older sister got while she was living out there with her husband that is now dead , he died in 1982 at the age of 82. he too was a creek indian last name Fretwell.
I sure hope this helps you in some small way. You can also contact me at my e-mail address (

Good Luck. God Bless,
Charlotte
