My mother's maiden name is Caunt, and her father was Herbert Gladston Caunt. They used to live in Carlton, near Nottingham, and later elsewhere in the county. I can give further details if you think there is a connection, but my details do not go back too far. My mother is still alive and well (aged 92!), but the various sections of the family have not kept in touch for many years.
