Causbie Bulletin Board

This bulletin board focuses on the Causbie Family in the U.S. - the descendants of two brothers, Samuel Monroe and Washington Jackson CAUSBIE, and their wives, sisters Martha Ann and Rhoda Ellen RUSSELL. Samuel and "Hick" adopted the spelling CAUSBIE between 1850 and 1860 and most of their descendants have stayed with that spelling. They started an interesting American genealogy in Tennessee and Arkansas that is now scattered across the country.

Re: Causbie/Cosby

I think we've corresponded before but here's the information that I have. Josiah Cosby, aka: (given name) Isaiah Corsbie, son of James Corsbie aka: James Cosby m. Margaret McBride; son of Hance Corsbie aka: Hans Corsbie m. Ann McDill. They came over from Ireland to NC. Josiah was first gen American.<br>Josiah Cosby on 1850 Marshall County census was living with his sister, Ann Cosby who never married. Apparently Josiah's wife had died prior to 1850. Wash and Sam changed their name to Causbie before joining the CSA. They are listed as Causbie and Causbia on the records. Write me and I'll give you all the scoop. My husband is Johnny Causbie, great grandson of Washington Jackson Causbie, brother of Samuel Monroe Causbie.
