Phillips, Marjorie Roper "Margie"
Marjorie Roper "Margie" Phillips, 73, of Nowlings Chapel Road, Morganton, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at Valdese General Hospital following a period of declining health. Mrs. Phillips was born on Jan. 2, 1935 in Burke County to the late Toy Ervin "Earl" Roper and Mattie Lou Causby Roper. She was a retired manager of Quality Mart in Morganton. She is survived by her canine companion, Angel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob David "J.D." Phillips. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Donald Lovelace and Diana Spangler-Crawford officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 5061 US Hwy 64 Morganton, NC 28655 or Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
