Thank you very much for your response. I have never been able to get beyond vague clues and the hunches they generate in finding the family for Diana Causey who was born ca 1798 (place unknown) who married my John W Linthicum in Guilford Co in 1823. Both died by 1847 and their young orphans scattered to the winds. If any family tradition survived, it has not surfaced in my many years of off/on research. I lean toward Jesse Causey b ca 1800 in NC who married Lydia Coe in Guilford Co in 1831 as being a brother or very close relative of Diana as one of John and Diana’s orphans, John D or B Linthicum appears with a related Coe family in the 1850 Census for Guilford Co.
In reviewing my files I found that I had obtained a few fragments of Mr. Emerson’s works (mostly Bible records) from PERSI reprints of Guilford Genealogist articles. Nothing yielded any leads toward Diana’s parents. If Mr. Emerson is still active, I would appreciate an opportunity to contact him about his book and even with your findings, I would be interested in reviewing the material on the families who came to Guilford Co in order to decide if this group from Caroline Co. just might include my Causeys.
Lacking that opportunity, if you feel that it would not be inappropriate to copy the book, I would be willing to pay copy costs, etc.
Thank you again for your help.
