Hi Marsha,
Meet another cousin. My name is Kathy and my ggrandmother was Elizabeth Louisa Causton. She was the first child of Isaiah and Elizabeth. She was married in Canada to Louis Amerman. (who I have had little luck finding about). My Grandmother was born in Canada. She must have moved to Idaho with her family at some point as my g-Aunt and G-uncles Violet, Fred, and George were born in Idaho. I don't know if she was visiting Canada, but that is where my grand-mother was born and she was I believe the youngest. The family moved to Oregon (Astoria) as they are listed in the 1920 census. In the 1930 census, my grandmother was married to my grandfather. (James William Graves) my great gran and great uncles and great aunt had moved to Long Beach, Ca. My great grandfather either died, or divorced his wife. The 1930 census has her married to a Jack Tiffin who was also from England. She died in Long Beach, CA in June 1971.
It has been really fun finding these relatives. Hope to hear from you.
Kathy

Hi Sam,
My name is Kathy and I am the Great Grandaughter of Elizabeth Louisa Causton. She married Louis Amerman in 1892. My Grandmother Kathleen was born in Canada, and then They must have moved to Idaho, as my Great Aunt Violet, and My Great-Uncles Fred and George were born there. At some point they moved to Oregon. There is a listing in the 1920 Census of them living in Astoria, (my town) I don't know if Louis died or they divorced, because the 1930 census has my grandmother married and living in Oregon, but my G-Grandmother had moved to Long Beach, CA. As did my great aunt and great uncles. My grandmother remarried to a Jack Tiffin who was also from England. She died in Long Beach in June 1971. I have been working on my Geanology for about three years, and just this last week was able to break through. I am so excited to see relatives!
Kathy

Hi Wayne,
I have some information on your fathers ancestry.
His fathers name was Emerson Percival, he had about 7 brothers and 2 sisters.(Douglas, Cecil, Morris, Fred, Norman, charlie, Dalton, Elizabeth (aunt Lizzie), and Florence. They were from the Stayner/ Collingwood area. Emerson's mother was Nellie Little (born in Stayner area, and father was Arthur (born in England). Nellie's family also lived in the Stayner area, mother Ellen and father John Little, they were farmers.
I also have copies of WWI applications to the war for Emerson, Douglas and Norman.
I have been searching the web and using my nearest living relative for this info. My mom is DOROTHY.
Hope all if well with you and your family and it was great to see a familiar name in my search. If you like I'll let you know anything else I found out.
Regards, cousin Shirley

I have found the Arthur Eccleston Causton who came from Sudbury Suffolk England and have his ancestry back to 1775. Arthur's brother Charles Henry also came to Canada. Can send GEDCOM if you can read it or printed chart by snail mail if you let me have your adress. Alternatively you can look at this data on my web site at www.btinternet.com/~john.causton in the searchable database.
Could I please have any dates and places of birth, marriage and death as appropriate for your branch.
This branch is also being researched by Jan Reed at reeds@tiscali.co.uk who I am sure would like to hear from you

best wishes

John Causton

Hi. Not sure if I'm replying to Cindy Johnson, or Dave. In any case, I decided this morning to check out the family history site mentioned in the AOL Welcome box and was fascinated to find these two messages.

My grandfather was George Robert Causton, 6th child of Isaiah and Elizabeth. He and Rosa had three sons, Ivan (my father), Clifford Clinton and Robert Cecil. My father died in 1971 in Spokane and Cliff died in January of this year in Casper, Wyoming. Cliff is survived by his wife, Faye and a son, Ray who has a wife and three daughters (in Casper, Wyoming). Robert lives in Honolulu, Hawaii, but visits Bonners Ferry regularly.

I was in Bonners Ferry a few weeks ago for memorial services for Uncle Cliff. (Faye decided it would be better to wait and have the services in July in Bonners Ferry since that's where he grew up.)

It was a fascinating trip. I met a cousin I didn't know existed, Denice (Causton) Hogan who lives in Tigard, Oregon. Her ggrandfather was Albert Henry Causton, last child of Isaiah and Elizabeth to be born in England (1889). After meeting her, I began wondering how many other cousins I might have out there descended from Isaiah and Elizabeths other children.

Please do contact me by e-mail so we can discuss further, msnissen56@aol.com.
Maybe we should have a Causton cousins reunion or something.

Marcia

The message I picked up seemed to be part what I submitted and part of another person's message,so am not sure to whom I am replying .This is the first time I have seen a connection to Schoonover, also.I have thought perhaps there was a Hugenot connection--as the spelling could be French.Write again and I will better understand both the message and the sender.
I saw the information that you are discussing on the Causton family last night and would be interested in what you have. My ggrandmother was Ada Mary Causton born 28 January 1880 and she died 25 November 1981. she had a brother Fredrick L. Causton that was born in 1892 and that is all the information that I have on him. Their parents are Isaiah John Causton (8 May 1851-death unknown) and Elizabeth Ann Brentnall (born 1 November 1851-death unknown)both were born in England in the area around London. I know my ggrandmother worked on a steam boat that ran on Kootenay Lake before 1900. That is where she met my ggrandfather Lewis John Johnson. I would appericate any information that you can provide to me as I haven't had much luck yet on finding information on that part of my family
Thanks
Dave
Causton family USA/Canada

Two of my great uncles emigrated to Canada, one stayed in Canada (Charles Henry) the other went to USA ? California (Arthur Eccleston). The year of their emigration is not known but Charles was born around 1859 and Arthur 1860. I know there is family in Canada altho' I do not have contact at the moment but nothing seems to have been heard of Arthur since he went to USA. They were born in Little Cornard, Suffolk (District Sudbury) England. If anyone has any information or a lead it would be appreciated. Thanks

Causton family USA/Canada

I had two relatives come over in, I believe, early 1900's. One Charles Henry, the other Arthur Eccleston Causton. Arthur is the one I believe came to USA and worked in the orange industry somewhere. Nothing had been heard since he decided to move on to USA from Canada and that is all I know about him. ? George a son - possible I suppose but I did get a Social Security record sent over for an Arthur which did not appear to have any bearing. Arthur Eccleston was born 22.7.1860 in Suffolk, England.

Thanks for the info received. I'll try and check it out from this end.

Caustons USA/Canada

My great-grandfather was Frederick Lewis Causton (1892-1975). I don't know much about him, but the WWI Civilian Draft Registration placed him in Shoshone, Idaho (USA) in 1917-1918. His place of birth was listed as Waupella Sau., Canada (I don't know where that is, yet).
Another Causton, George, is listed in the WWI Civilian Draft Registration as a naturalized US citizen living in Boundary, Idaho. I found his cemetery marker on the web this morning at http://www.rootsweb.com/~idbounda/gv-c.htm
Frederick and George are buried together in Boundary, Idaho, along with Rose Etta Perkins Causton (George's wife), Isaiah J, and Elizabeth A B Causton (the parents, I think).
I'm guessing that Isaiah brought his family to Idaho from Canada. After George's death in 1941, it looks like Rose moved to California, where she applied for a Social Security Card, and then moved to Seattle, Washington some time before her death in 1967.
I discovered most of this on the web this morning - I have some more dates if you want them.

Hope this helps some,
Sam

Found more Caustons

While digging through my great-aunt's memoirs, I found a Causton family newsletter from the mid-1980's. According to the information in the letter, my gggrandfather Isiah was from London, brought his wife and 9 kids to Saskatchewan, Canada (because of her poor respiration), had my ggrandfather there, and then the family moved to Idaho. If any of this sounds familiar to anyone, I have more information. :)

Dave, according to a photocopy and trascription of the family Bible that I have, your ggrandmother Ada Mary was the 4th child of Isaiah John and Elizabeth Ann Bretnall Causton.
The children were as follows: Elizabeth Louisa (1875-?), Isaiah Willian (1876-1878), stillborn (1878), Ada Mary (1880-1981), George Robert (1882-1941), Harriet Louisa (1884-?), Charles James (1884-1886), Emma Zeruiah (1886-?), Albert Henry (1889-?), Frederick Lewis (1892-1975).
All of the children (except baby Frederick) were born in England, and the family moved to Canada (Saskatchewan) in 1891. My ggrandfather, Frederick Lewis, was born there. In 1894, the family moved south to Boundary County, Idaho.

Back beyond Isaiah, I have some information from the Causton One-Name Study, based in England. According to their records, Isaiah was the son of Isaiah (c1821-?) and Louise (1827-?) Causton. This Isaiah was the son of Robert (1782-1839) and Sarah Rippin Causton (c1789-1860), Robert was the son of John Causton (1734-?).
This side of our ggrandparents, I do have a Causton family newsletter with a number of names and addresses from the late 1980's. If you can send me an email (quislet@fast.net), we can carry on this collaboration offline.

Glad to meet you, cousin!
Sam
