All Cauthen, regardless of spelling descended from this Richard. Whick of the brothers who fought in the Revolutionary War (not Civil War) did you descend from. My gread great grandfather was John Burdett Cauthen son of Milton Cauthen and his first wife. All of "us Cauthens" are related somehow or another. The spellings of the family named are usually attributed to census takers who spelled it the was it sounded to them.
