Hello. My name is "Elizabeth Cavanah" daughter of the "Roger Cavanah". I have heard some commenting of many "Cavanah's" being announced. I had just wanted to acquire my postion in the "Cavanah Family Tree". I am very intrigued that I have located some of my ancestors of the accumalative "Cavanah's" before me. It is a coincidence that we have met on such high standards. I long your arrival of your comments. Thank you for your time.
-The Elizabeth Cavanah.

Can we compare notes?

I have a hodge-podge of names and I am trying to sort them all out. Of course the older censuses do not name individual so I am trying to sort out persons in age brackets.

Are you saying Charles was the f/o David > then Aquilla was the father of David L. married Frances Crump > David S. married Nancy White? Because I had Charles then Aquilla (no David prior to Aquilla)....I feel as if I am running in circles trying to sort out all the names.

Can you generate and provide me a family report on:
Charles who d: c1754
Aquilla who d: c: 1784
David L. who d: c1823 and
David S. who married Nancy White?

I am almost certain that my David S was the son of David L. and Frances (Crump) Cavanah but need more hard documentation.....I first need to sort out all these Cavanah names to see who is the son of whom....a family report would help me do that.

Once I get it all sorted out, would you like a family report from me?

Tina

Patty

I have a David Cavanah b: c1801who married Nancy White. I find David in the 1840 Christian County, KY census and in the 1850 census of Hopkins County, KY.....county boundary lines changed in their area so I am not sure if family ,moved or county boundary lines changed.

I am looking for confirmation of David Cavanah b: c1801 parents. One researcher posted he was the son of David and Frances (Crump) Cavanah.

Do you know if your Charles had a brother named David?

I have researched the Cavanah's of KY and have a hodge-podge of details but with the repeating names I am running in circles.

Can you help?

Thanking you in advance,
Tina
TinaBopper@centurytel.net
You need to look in Hopkins and Webster Co Ky. I don't have a marriage date and I'm thinking that it may have been David Joseph Cavanah. Just a guess. The record that I have was made by my husbands uncle back in 1923. Are you from Mo? That is where Aquilla Cavanah and John Crump Cavanah and Reuban O. Cavanah ended up. We are from the Sewards from Indiana and Mo. Nancy

I need the birth date of Pearl Cavenah, the sister of Leroy and Thomas Tillman Cavenaugh. And I don't know whom she married...if she married. Appie was born Feb 5, 1872 and she died Jan. 27, 1945. She married Thomas T. (or H.) Cavenah/Cavanaugh on 24 Dec. 1890 in Rankin, Miss. I don't know the date of her marriage to Foote Lake Edmonson/Edmondson. She was also called Appie Lee Edmondson. Appie is buried in Brushwood Cemetery in Dubberly, Louisiana. I don't know her husband's birth date. Was Leroy ever married? He is buried in the same cemetery. Thomas, Appie's son, married Eula Tour. The death certificate say he was born 11-3-1901, but his social security records on line say he was born Nov. 20th, 1901. Leroy was born Dec. 12, 1891 in Mississippi. He died Aug. 14, 1951. I'm not sure where he died. Leroy is also buried in Brushwood Cemetery. Zoe

Hi, I found Appie Julie Rhodes's father's name and her birth date and her burial place and a cousin sent me pictures of the graves of several family members etc. Appie had two groups of children. She was married first to Thomas Cavanaugh and then she married Foote Lake Edmonson. My grandmother was a cousin to Foote Lake Edmonson, so I am not really related, but I know a lot about the Edmonsons
/Edmondsons. Appie's father was Absom Rhodes. Appie was born in Rankin County, Miss. I don't know who Appie's mother was. Do you? I'd love to hear from you. Zoe

I have a Cavanah family that I have hit a brick wall with. I wondered if he might fit in with your line. Charles born abt 1806 married Clarissa Graddy 1829 in Hopkins Co KY. Their children shown on 1850 Hopkins Co census are David,Henry,Jay,William,George,Nancy,John,Sarah,Joseph. In later years I find their children in Hopkins and Christian Counties but I can't connect Charles with the Cavanah lines in the area. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Dear Wendy,

I notice that you included both spellings of the Cavanaugh name. My father is Stephen Elmer Cavanaugh, aka Elmer Clarence Cavanaugh and I notice he is listed as Grant Elmer in this registry. His brother, Albert, spelled his name Cavanah. There was a family disagreement about the spelling as long as these two brothers were alive and Albert's family still spells it Cavanah. Can you shed any light on why these two brothers spell their last names differently?

I would love to hear from you.

Pauline

Webster County, Kentucky Cavanah's

I am helping my mom reasearch her ancestory. The Cavanah's and the Myers.
My ggggrandmother was Martha Cavanah. She married a Abraham Myers
in July of 1846, in what was then Hopkins County Kentucky.
Abraham and Martha had two children. I have tracked Martha and Abraham up to
the 1850 census. In the 1860 census, Martha and her two children William
and Mildred are living with Martha's sister Frances Cavanah Clark.

Mildred Married Daved Nall at her aunt Frances's plantation.

Frances Cavanah was married to William Clark and they had five
children together.

We believe that Martha's parents were John and Catherine, but
cannot confirm that. Actually I am having trouble finding anything
at all on Martha and her family and Abraham and his family.

Does anyone have information that they can share with us.
Anything would be helpful.

Thanks Much
Natalie

Perhaps Patty got too busy and correspondance too time consuming. That would be regretable. As a matter of policy, I don't share e-mail addresses unless permission is given. Be that as it may, others at Genforum have information that Patty has shared. Try anyone that responds to Cavanahs oh KY,NC,GA,or VA. Harold

I have gone to Genforum a couple times now and haven't been able to locate Patty. All I've been told it they think she changed her nick. Yes, I'm working hard on it today. It's frustrating hitting brick walls so often though.
Thank you for all of your messages though, they add hope.

Working today are we? I am pretty much snowbound and am spending extra time at the computer. You need to find Patty at genforum.com. I believe that you and she are of the Cavanahs that spent two or so generations in GA. I visited clansandnames and learned. Things come together so slowly. Harold

Harold, I'm not sure of any lineage just yet. The most I know is that my father was Charles Herman Cavanah born in Germany. His fathers name is also Charles Herman and mother is believed to be Magdeline. This is all I know of this family, unfortunately.

I came across this site in my searching today and thought it would be a wonderful treasure for someone. The newspaper article states that they have a picture of John Cavanah and family with others in the photo and they would like to find the family that it belongs to. Hope someone is lucky enough to claim it. http://www.winstoncountyjournal.com/opinion/10-20familytrees...

Cavanahs, KY, N.C., VA

Rebecca, It is good to hear from someone at this site. You should go to genforum.com from Ancestory.com, that is where the action is. You probably belong to my family. There was a Charles Cavenah d.1756 in Edgecomb County,N.C. Whose children were Memorial,David, Mary, Needham, Aquilla, Nicholas, Charles, Arthur and Henry. My line is Aquilla of N.C., David b. N.C. and moved to KY circa 1795, in KY David, John Franklin, William Franklin, William Lawrence and me. In N.C. the other siblings of Aquilla moved to Burke County, GA circa 1764 and from there a Charles and William moved to Christian County,KY circa 1795. I believe that some of those Christian County,KY Cavanahs moved into TN. At genforum.com talk to Patty, she may be of your line. Harold
