Hi Jenny,
Well I don't know much about my ancestors in UK, but out here they seemed to be quite influential. Charles came out c1848/9 with quite a large family although I cannot find out on which ship. He died in 1850. His son William Rendall ( on the birth register the writing says William Kendall) was a wheat merchant, importer and had five steam tugs to bring in the boats carrying his cargo. He was Consul to Chile as was his son, John Rendall.
Back in England, the only thing I could find is that Charles was a Yoeman farmer.
It may be another branch of my Caves that you are connected to, so any info you have would be interesting and a link would be good.
Regards, Chris Williams
PS I have a public tree on ancestry.

Hi,
My name is Sandra Damewood Winn, and am a great grandadughter of Nancy Jane Cave Damewood. I am just beginning my genalogical search. At one point I had traced the Damewood family to Switzerland in the 1640's. Apparently there was a mane change at that time. I have recently moved and have not been able to put my hands on my research but I believe the last name was Demuth. Can you confirm any of this for me?
Thanks, Sandy

Dear Rita, isn't it exciting to find your roots. Life gets in the way of my research sometimes and its been a while since I've been on this site. I have been concentratiing on finding my Aussie relatives in Sydney New south Wales and found my direct cousins, who have Emma Cave-Brown(e)-Cave as their GG Mother, just like me.
In 2004 I went to Stanford Hall in Lutterworth Leicester, one of our family homes, where My GG mother Emma used to visit her cousins. I was absolutely blown away by the experience. We had a reunion of about 60 Caves, and extended family. My cousin Theresa Goss came from Vancouver, and also my cousin Sarah Chanin from Devon in England. The only light I can shed on the family connection is that one of the Cave brothers went to London in about the 1700s and married the daughter of the Mayor of London, whose surname was Brown(e), and they also married into the Verney family, of the Braye baroncy. Debretts and Burkes say how later the descendents added the names together, making Cave-Brown(e)-Cave. The brothers took these names. I have reached a stalemate regarding my gg mothers family in Dorset. I have to get hold of the birth & marriage CTS. Hope to hear from you. Julie

Dear Rita, thanks for your reply. I havn't found the direct connection yet with the Cave/Braye Baroncies, through my great Grandmother, Emma Cave-Brown(e) Cave except that she used to visit Stanford hall in Lutterworth, to see her cousins in the 1800s-1900s, and her family goes back to Dorset about the 1700s. Yes i have all the info from Debretts and Burkes, but still do not have the connection. Julie

Hi, I think we are definitely related. My Great Grandmother Emma Cave(Brown(e)-Cave talked aboout the Baroncy held by you ancestor. She had the title at one time, which is connected to the Bray Baroncy, but it passed on to her cousin in Canada. Your Acncestor had a business in Canada. Look up Debretts or Burkes peerage and you will find the info. Julie Lawrence

I have Henry Cave born 1797 England and died 1875 Ohio. He
had children Joseph A., Henry Clay and Cynthia E. I have a
photo of some unidentified people that has written on the back
"Cave family in Canada". My great-grandparents are in the
photo and they lived in Nebraska at the time. Do you think
there could be a connection? I would be happy to share the
photo.

Yes, I would love to see the photo. Daniel Cave (perhaps Arnold's nephew) died in 1906 in Sharon, Mercer County, PA. He (and perhaps his father Henry) did work in this industry in western Pennsylvania. I appreciate your reply.

Daniel Cave was my great uncle (married Maggie Mulligan).
Gayl Mulligan Callis
Thanks for your reply. I don't know if this information will be helpful. Nothing seems to jive right now, but I'll print and hold on to it. One never knows. Sounds as if our Henry, and his sons Daniel and Thomas came to the USA in the early 1870s. Settled in Western Pennsylvania and worked in the 'blast furnaces' ... I appreciate your prompt reply.
I had a great great uncle, John Cave, who immigrated to the
USA in 1850 from Co. Monaghan. He was said to have had a
brother, I believe, named Henry. Don't know if there is any
connection.

I have been in contact with a Vera Cave, Co. Donegal, and she sent me information on a number of Church of Ireland
clergy named Cave. One of her great grandfathers was Henry
Cave (1852-1935), and he had a son named Henry Carr Cave. She also said Henry Carr Cave had a son, Frank, who lived
in England.

Don't know if any of this is helpful.

Jack

Jennings County, Indiana, Cave Family

I am the County Coordinator for Jennings County on INGenWeb and am interested in a Cave family I see as being early settlers in Montgomery Township on the sourthern end of the County. There is a very old Cemetery called the Cave/Dixon Cememtery located at what was the town of Paris. Buried there are

Wm. G. Cave D Jan 15, 1882 80yrs 10mos 21days
Ella G. Cave (Wife of Wm. G.) D Nov 16, 1869 52yrs 20days
Stephen Cave July 1, 1820-July 3, 1826

There is also mention in the Plain Dealer Newspaper published Dec. 26, 1871 of a William Cave aged 70 years who is among the oldest citizens in Montgomery Township. I am thinking he is the same William as above. Does anyone on this list have more on this family?

Sheila Kell
http://ingenweb.org/injennings/
Does anyone have any information on this Henry Cave or his family? I am researching Henry Cave, b. 1797, Lancashire, England, who moved to OH from PA about this time. He and his family are on the 1860 census for Pike Co., but I don't know where they are in 1840 or 1850 and wonder if this may be the same man. I'm happy to exchange information.
