Reading back on my message, I have learned Sarah (Cavileer) Oneil HINDE was the dau of the Chas Cavileer I am searching. I have the NJ Cavileer Lineage and do not see no links. There was a Maine CAVALIER Family that needs further searching. I discovered this morning there is a 1850 Maine(?) Census which shows my Cavileers. (according to another family member) Somewhere somehow these Cavileer families link but I just haven't found it.
I am awaiting a phone call from this person.

I recently went back to some old land records and am now questioning this "Peter C. CAVILEER" that was posted. I would like to know if anyone may know what name the middle initial "C" is? I have a "P. Charles CAVILEER" named in this record as making a land transaction with a another in Kent Coutny, MD. Any responses?

Re: Sarah Cavileer

I show a couple of generations of Charles Cavileer with a brother John.

Only information I have on the "oldest" Charles was that he died 1844.

His brother John was born March 28, 1781 died in 1839 buried in Lower Bank NJ. (where most of my family in the Cavileer's still live.

They had a sister Sarah who married the O'Mear (I don't really trust everything this woman has in our list because she has me entered as Kathryn Wison and I am plain Kathy Wilson) but there is no data on any issue. There is no other information about her either.

My thinking is that perhaps their father John Cavileer who was born in 1742 and died in 1813 may have had a brother Charles Cavileer. It seems to follow a pattern that they named their children after brothers and sisters. (Great for gen. searches huh!) Sometimes we see marriages and we are not sure, except by birth dates, who is who, there are so many with the same name.

There is no data John's famiy except his father Peter purchased several hundred acres of land in Burlington County NJ. His mother was Ann Tearney. It doesn't mention his brothers and sisters.

What I have was done in 1976 so it is possible with the LDS records we might go back further and find his family is connected with yours since we don't know where Peter and son John came from. It would be so great to connect with England, because we are not sure where this arm came from. I thought my grandmother mentioned Canada, but then alot of Brits came through Canada back then.

Keep in touch, I'm just outside Lower Bank, New Jersey.
Re: Sarah Cavileer

In going back to a diary dating the early 1900's. by Lulah CAVILEER of ND, she had mentioned some of the CAVILEERS of Ohio went in different directions but most of the children moved back to England, but she fails to mention what part of England. As far as I know, of the CAVILEER kids of Clark County, Ohio, most remained in the states. I have record of the following kids.
(These would be the children of Charles CAVILEER 1787-1850 and Rachel TREECE of Clark Co., Springfield, OH)
not in birth order:

1) Sarah E. CAVILEER (her obit) from Clark County, Ohio
2) Charles Turner CAVILEER m1) Marguerite DESCOTEAUX (METIS) of North Dakota of whom I am a direct link
m2) Isabella MURRAY(METIS),
3) Edmund B. CAVILEER b. Urbana, OH, resided in CA and died in Riverside, CA
4) Rachel CAVILEER m. William MCCUDDY and resided in Clark County, OH
5) Alfred CAVILEER m. Iserelda GORDON and resided in Clark County, OH
6) Margaret Ann CAVILEER m. James WARD
7) Anna CAVILEER b. 1835, m. Unknown WARD
************
Early deaths in this family:
1) Mary CAVILEER b.1820, d. 1820
2) Hariette CAVILEER b. 1821, d. 1822
3) Robert CAVILEER b. 1828, d. 1847
4) James W. CAVILEER b. 1829, d. 1871
5) Henry CAVILEER b. 1832, OH, do death date
6) Martha J. CAVILEER b. 1838, d. bet. 1841-1842

If any of these traveled back to England, my guess would be that it was Henry CAVILEER. For the most part, the children in this family, at death, were all buried in the CAVILEER family plot at the Ferncliff Cemetery, Clark Co., Springfield, Ohio. In Lulahs diary, I don't think she knew much of her fathers side of the family. I found many descrepancies in her writings.
Am I correct to say the surname "WARD" fell in the family somewhere with the NJ Lineage? And if so, where would the connection be, between the NJ and OH CAVILEER families?

??? Is John CAVILEER b. 1742 the brother to my Charles CAVILEER b. 1749?
And...could John CAVILEER also be known as Jean CAVILEER, CAVALIER or CHEVALIER?

(Who did he come to America with, and at what port of entry) Did he come with immediate family etc...

Hi there
My O'Neill (O'Neal) read on my 4th great grandfather (Charles CAVILEER's) "Will" as D'Neal. "D" could be DOUGHTY as I have found Sarah (DOUGHTY CAVILEER NEAL) as 2nd marriage to Thomas Spottswood Hinde b. Apr 19, 1785 in the Genealogy of Of Thomas Hinde (b. July 16, 1734) Oxforshire England. I was wondering if your John CAVILEER had a brother by the name of Charles CAVILEER? My Charles was b. 1749 but his records have been found in Chestertown, Kent Cty., Maryland and Queen Anns County Maryland.
My Sarah CAVILEER was b. Aug 31, 1791.

There is a Charles W, son of John and Ann Cavileer. John was the son of Peter who purchased land in Lower Bank in 1730. John was born 1742 and died 1813. What dates are you looking for....John also had a daughter named Sarah who married Benjamin O'Mear - could the person doing our family tree misinterpreted it and it was O'Neill.
I have a cousin Bobby (Nelson) Ward that was Hannah's daughter's son. Maybe not. I finally met Barry by going to the unemployment office and asking to see him. They told him some young lady was asking for him.... had him all shook up ha ha! He knew me once we got talking and infact will see him in two weeks at the Lower Bank Fire House Dinner. He is such a lovely guy. His wife Barbara had a class with me at Atlantic Community College like 30 years ago, but I didn't know Barry at the time. She has not been friendly that last time I saw them (Batsto) so I haven't persued. I met Barry's daughter at the last dinner!

How did you get to Tennessee and do ya love it _ I hear it is really nice. I lived in Oklahoma in the western side and just loved the culture... but divorced with two kids came home to my parents. They both passed away a few years ago and there isn't much family - so it's nice to know someone with ties are out there.

I went to the message board because Alexis said she did not get files I had sent her through my e-mail and I wanted to backtrack the info from her message board..... did you follow that????? sorry... Anyway, I am so excited you answered. I take it that your Grandmother is my Great Aunt Neva??? She had blueberry field and I picked in it with my Grandmother, your Great Aunt Hannah..... I use to drink Yahoo instead of 7up! Possibly we picked together as little kids! I remember going to the field once. My only remembrance of Aunt Neva was a big sun hat. She lived across the street from the store right?

Oh gosh, this has really made my day.... now - how do we tie Alexis in. Her in-law Cavileer Grandfather is Eugene. I thought it was Great Uncle Eugene's kid's kid, but then I remember that Eugene is a Maxwell. I found stuff about Sarah in our family tree (Cavileer).

Do you have a copy - if not would you like one? It starts in 1730 all the way to my kids.... If you have kids we need to add them. I know you are on it - will take it out tonight and look.

Did you ever get my e-mail" I wrote from mewriteu@hotmail.com

Answer both ways if you can since the message board seems more reliable.

The only info I have on the Cavileers is the info I gave you. My mother in law made a small framed generation paragraph for my son when he was born. It says the name Cavileer was derived from Chevalier??? The only Cavileer men known to be in my husband's family today are his grandfather, Eugene, his father Ronald, himself Ronald Jr. and my son Nicholas. Other than that there are no other Cavileer men known to be in this family. My husband's grandmother gave us a picture of Gilbert Cavileer wearing his Civil war uniform.

These names are familiar and I have run into them over the course of my research but, In your lineage are you saying that the CHEVALIER surname converted to the CAVILEER surname spelling?

Just to confuse you all the more...
1) I would be curious to know if this Phillip CAVILEER of Delaware might link to my CAVILEERS(???)

2) There was an Isaac CAVALIER who immigrated into America in the year 1650. Have you any info for this guy?

3) Do you have any historical records for Jean CHEVALIER?

4) Would like to know also if you found any info for a Louis CAVALIER Lincoln County, Maine who had a daughter named Mary CAVELEAR? She m. Louis HOUDLETTE. These were huguenots.

In my family lineage of my gggrandfather, he wrote that the family was of huguenot descent. There is a Jean CAVALIER in the records at the Huguenot Society. I am not sure if this is a link either. So much, but so little to go on.

My mother in law made a list of generations for my son. It only has the male cavileer generations:

Jean Chevalier came to america in 1669,to NYC. Also Pierre in SC and Phillip in Delaware both in 1667. They were all brothers from St. Lo, Normandy (France). Peter who was from London who settled in Jamestown 1700. Peter C. Cavileer born 1739, Samuel born 1807, Gilbert born 1843, and Eugene S born 1890. It isnt known who first purchased land in Lower Bank NJ in 1730. But that is all I have and I would like to know how all this ties together.

I have the NJ Lineage but have been unable to find a link. But I have not ruled it out. I have posted a number of family group sheets with rootsweb:

http://rootsweb.com/~usfgs/maryland/
http://rootsweb.com/~usfgs/ohio/
http://rootsweb.com/~usfgs/northdakota/

These are my 4 CAVILEER generations, First 3 generations are all "Charles" as first names. My gggrandfather claims his grandfather came to Baltimore and Chestertown, MD from Alsace France, probably to escape religious persecutions, but I have found nothing further. From another source from family records, the CAVILEERs came from England. I am dumbfounded.

Hi Kathy! I am sorry I did not see your message til now. I have not come to this site for months. I see where Cavileer, and Maxwell are referenced! (Great-Uncle) Harold Maxwell was married to my grandfather's sister, (my Great-Aunt) Hannah Cavileer. When I was ten years old I remember riding in the back of my grandmother's huge truck, used in the blueberry fields. We would always stop at Uncle Harold's store there in LB and I would get a 7-Up to drink. Is your brother Bobby Maxwell? I believe he and my cousin Barry have always been good friends and that Bobby and I went to Oakcrest HS at the same time.
Sometimes this computer stuff is wild, isn't it?! Thanks for your message from last April. I will try to be more thoughtful of getting back into this site for messages! Sincerely, Martha

Hi Tim! I have managed to lose what would have been your Email address. So if you get this, please write again. According to your inquiry on the ancestry.com message board, you would like to add my sibs to the family tree.I will list their names and birthdates if that will help. Then I do hope to hear from you again sometime. The following are Naomi's children:
Martha Naomi Cavileer b. 5 May 1950
Janice Lorraine Cavileer b. 14 May 1952
Timothy Donald Cavileer b. 25 March 1955
Susan Diane Cavileer b. 12 October 1956
Anthony Benjamin Franklin Cavileer b. 2 March 1959
You do know where Nellie White Gurganious and her husband (my gandparents) are buried, right? Also, do you need information on any of Naomi's sibs and their families?
Hope this will help you fill in some holes. Sincerely, Martha

Hello all. This is Daisy, Naomi's sister who is currently living in Massachuts. I have done some extensive searching for anything I can find as far as Naomi's birth, marriage or death records are concerned and have come up empty handed. By the way Matha, Judy is Emerson's girlfriend/partner in life and has helped me out in many ways as far as the Gurganious tree goes. If you have anything on your mom, could you please forward it to us? Tim, I am not sure exactly how we are related but would love to chat with you and find out. My e-mail address is listed above. Nice chatting with you all and how about we all get together in an IM chat soon. My love to all. Daisy

To our family's knowledge, the only Cavileer families with this particular spelling were located in Lower Bank, NJ. I do not have any information readily available as to the names of ancestors going back as far as you are asking. Maryland is certainly not very far from South Jersey. You will find Lower Bank located on the Mullica River, about 7 miles north of Egg Harbor. The older Cavileers were mainly farmers - blueberry fields and cranberry bogs - and boatbuilders (I think). I believe there may be a Charles somewhere back in our ancestors BUT I am not sure of that at all. Hope this may help give you some new leads for areas to search. Sincerely, Martha Cavileer Thomas
