I am very interested in your Cavin connection, especially as it relates to Wilkinson, MS and the early 1840's. My great great grandparents were married in Wilkinson Co. in 1840 and their second son was named Caven. (Their first son was my great grandfather, Montcalen Fuqua Woodward.) Their names were John Gilbert Woodward and Mary Ann Shaffer (spelling varies). I know little of their lives at this time and prior; but know more about them when they moved to southwestern Texas, where they became successful cattle ranchers and trail drivers. Would love to know more about the lives and times of 1840 Wilkinson and any possible connection to my family. Of course, I am willing to share with you.
Since, so far, I can find no family connection to the name Caven/Cavin, I am assuming my relative was named after a dear friend. Thus, my query to you.
Best regards,
