Hi Rich,
You and I were in contact earlier this month by email.
I know a lot more than when I posted the first message here several years ago.
Your Benjamin Cayer (m. 1859 St-Cuthbert to Adeline Lessard) was the son of Benjamin Benois Cayer who married in 1823 at Ile-duPas to Marie-Josephe Frique.
This Benjamin was the 9th child of Joseph Cayer and his second wife, Marie-Rose Legrave, who had married in 1785 at Sorel.
Joseph Cayer and Marie Rose Legrave are the first "common" ancestors between your line and mine:
Their 7th child, Basile, was married in 1816 at Ile-duPas to Charlotte Marchand.
Their son Alexis (b 1824), was married twice:
First, to Zoe Brissett, with whom he had 2 sons and 3 daughters. THESE TWO sons, Alexis (b 1844) and Prime, both lived in Rhode Island.
Next, Alexis (b. 1824) married Adeline Lincourt-Desorcy. Their son Benjamin, b. 1859 at St-David d'Yamaska, was my great grandfather, and the subject of my first message.
My Alexis (b. 1824) therefore probably named his son Benjamin after his uncle, your Benjamin Benois Cayer.
Regards,
Shari Strahan
