Hello Maureen,
I think it is quite amazing that after nearly 10 years you should come upon my message board. Am glad to make a new connection to the Batys - have enjoyed my new friendship with Jeanne. I'll e-mail you some photos of Richard which came from his cousin, Kathy Helms, who knew him as a child and young adult. They were close. I'll also e-mail you a little history.
Diana Ruth Hotchkiss (maiden name)Cebollero and now Riley.
My grandmother Dorothy Baty was a sister to Richard's mother Genevieve. I am in touch with Jeanne Anthony and I told her I had heard from you. She said to please tell you hello and that you had shared information with each other. It is a very small world isn't it? She is more knowledgeable than I am about the Baty's because her mother has been a genealogist for years. Jeanne's grandmother was also a sister to Genevieve. I would love to see a few pictures of Richard and his family especially his father if you have one or two. Jeanne had a picture of Richard that she sent me. She wasn't sure if her mother had it or you had sent it to her. I am going to post it on his Find A Grave memorial next.
Please email me if you would - maureenryon@gmail.com
Good hearing from you and hope to hear from you again.

I see that your relatives were from San Sebastian, PR. My Grandfather was Altagerge Cebollero, a Judge in San Sebastian. My Father, Pedro Angel Cebollero was born in San Sebastian in 1896 or in 1898. The exact year is in question because he had to change his birth date by two years so that he could work as a school teacher when he was 16 years old.

He later went to Chicago when he got a PHD in Education. In 1930 or 1931 he was appointed Commissior of Education by President Roosevelt. When the Democratic Party lost the election to the Republicans in 1936, our family left Puerto Rico for Venenzuela, and later moved to Panama. We returned to PR in 1940 shortly before the start of the war.

My Father then became Dean of the Department of Education in the UPR.

Greetings,

Manny

Gracias!

Hi everyone. I am from San Sebastian, Puerto Rico. My father's name is Jesus Cebollero, in honor of his grandfather. Currently I'm 23 years old, and I've always been interested in finding about distant relatives, since we share quite a rare last name. Please write me if we can have any sort of contact, and I can try to dig more info.
