I have the information from the marriage record of Vincenz CECH (also apelled CZECH) to Anna UTSCHIG, married in Marienbad (now Marianske Lazne), married 9 Nov 1852. His parents are Johann CZECH (sic), burger of Pilsen, and Katharina nee POESEL, of Lukawitz (now Lukavice), district of Pilsen. Vincenz was born 26 Sep 1823 in Pilsen. Vincenz was a shoemaker.

He married Anna UTSCHIG, daughter of Johann UTSCHIG, master shoemaker in Marienbad, and Elisabeth SCHICKER, also of Marienbad.

They immigrated to the U.S. from Bremen to New York 17 Aug 1854, on the ship "Bark Lina". Found them on the Castle Garden website.

Does this family sound familiar to anyone?

Also,on the Castle Gardens website, from Bohemia, were three other families with the surname Czech: (1) Franz, age 37, arrived 3 Oct 1857, New York, distination Iowa, on the ship "Agnes." On the same ship, same time, same destination, were Chatarina (sic), age 27; Marie, 11 months; Rosalie, age 19; and Johann, age 31, weaver.

(2) Franz, farmer, age 41, arrived 2 Sep 1861, New York; left from the port of Bremen; destination, Minnesota; on the ship "Atlantis." Also on the same ship, probably his family, were Franz, age 7, from Bohemia, youngster; Katharine, age 10; Maria, age 18, from Bohemia; Maria, farmer, age 38, from Bohemia; Mathias, age 9, youngster, Bohemia; Rosalia, age 13, Bohemia; Barbara, age 15, Bohemia.

(3) Rosalie, age 20, arrived 5 Dec 1866, from port of Bremen, last residence, Maelzich; destination, St. Louis, came on the ship "Leocadia."

Hope this info, though surnames spelled Czech, are of some help to someone. And hope someone is connected to my Vincenz Cech/Czech.

I might add, that the name Cech on the records in Marienbad had a "v" above the "C" (can't remember the name of that character), so that could be why the name is just spelled Cech in the U.S. My Vincenz was listed in the New York City Directory under the spelling of "Czech."
