I do not know any of the extended family in or from Italy.
My late mother-in-law was from there and she never let her grandchildren know anything about her family. They just want to know anything about them, as they are as proud of their Italian heritage as they are the Spanish, Scottish, English, and Native American. If this offends you, I am sorry, but I feek they should have the right to know all of their family. Even if that family does not want to know or share lives with them. They are very prooud of their father who was born in Rome and raised in Texas, USA and he was not rude to them but could not share too much because he never went back after he started high school. They want nothing monetary, just information on the family they never met while their Nona lived. Why they are a disgrace I would like to know? They never treated them in any untoward way as they were never allowed to know them. I believe you do not really know what you are talking about!

Donna,
You should really leave the family in Italy alone. No one there wants anything to do with your children as they were such a discrace to the family name. There is nothing that they will inherit, so there is no point in them continuing to try to contact the castle or any "relatives". The Italian family does not know them and the way they see it is that they have no ties to them.
Maybe they should have treated their family better while they were still living.

Temistocles' wife Hilda (your grandmother?) was my great aunt (my grandfather was her older half-brother John Abbott. Can't help you much with background of Temistocle, but have some info re his descendants & also some info on the Abbott line. Do you have much about the Abbotts?

Sorry I made an error. My grandmother's maiden name was "Conci", not Cenci. She came to America in 1913 from Nogarè, Province of Trentino.

Hello,i have a relative called Beatrice Cenci who went to the states around 1900 and i think she went with a sister called Anita,but they came from Colle San Magno.Possibly quite a few 'Beatrice Cenci's'.

My grandmother's maiden name was Beatrice Cenci (I think this is how it was spelled). She came to America around the same time (early 1900's). She came from around Potenza, Italy and she had a brother Joseph (I think) that came with her. HOwever, he returned to Italy.

I saw your posting. My great grandmother name was Elisa Fiorucci after she married my grandfather. His name was Luigi. My family is from Abruzzi and my uncle was born in Costacciro. My mom was born in Castlevecchiola. We might some how be related. Please let me know if you have any other information.

Jelsomina Degidio
B. May 1874 in Italy
Immigrated 1891

Jelsomina is the daughter of Frank / Francesco and Pasqualle Degidio.

In the 1900 census for Portland, Oregon it shows Adam / Admo and Gelsomino with three children :

Mary born Jan 1896 in Oregon
Anne born Aug 1897 in Oregon
Frank born Mar 1899 in Oregon

It shows that they had 5 children with 3 living.

The ancestor I am researching this line via is actually their youngest son:

My grandfather was called Temistocle Cenci. He was born on 8/3/1897 in Italy, Frazinoni and moved to Manchester in Great Britain roughly about 1913 when he was 16 years old.He was one of about 7 children and he had a sister called Beatrice.She emigrated to New York in the states and had a son called Joseph.He returned to Italy briefly and served in the Italian army before returning to the UK.He worked as a chef.He had five children, Alfred, Edmund,Nita John and Hilda(my mother).I am interested in finding anything about my Italian roots. I have reason to believe my great grandfather's family may have gone from Italy to Brazil. My great-grandfather was Agostino Cenci, born Terni, Umbria, Italy, around 1851. His parents were Giuseppe Cenci and Marianna Colisanti.

This is the information I have on my CENCI family:

My great-great grandfather was Giuseppe Cenci. He married Mariangela Colasanti. One of their children was Agostino Cenci, my great-grandfather, who married Alessandra Formiconi (daughter of Bernardino Formiconi & Cecilia De Santis) of Montefranco.

Agostino and Alessandra were married in 1887 at C. di Santa Maria Assunta in Montefranco. Agostino is listed as being son of Giuseppe and Mariangela of Terni.

The Formiconi Family of Montefranco is also related to the following families:

Cattani, Tazza, Vespasiani, and others.

Does anyone here have connections to Terni, Umbria?

That is where my great-grandparents, Agostino Cenci and Alessandra Formiconi (formerly of Montefranco) immigrated from with their 5 children between 1901-1905.

Their children were: Clelia, Dante, Terzo, Gustavo Othello and Elio Orfeo (my grandfather). There were also 2 other children who died in Italy before the family came to the US.

Any help is appreciated.

my mom and dad use to take me to ohio..philadephia, to visit his cousins.....the younger one was named Elsie ...can"t remember her older sisters name.....dad's name was also Nick and mom was Anna ...we lived in pgh pa.

On my last visit to Italy i was surprised to find out about the famous play "The Cenci." It was also interesting to know that there is a well to do shop that makes Cenci Clothing in Rome. I am not sure where my roots are in Italy but would love to know more on anything todo with my last name. *** the family crest in particular!

My mother Elisa Fiorucci was born in Costacciaro Italy and recognized Domenico and Italia Cenci's names; they are related to my grandmother's family Maddelena Benedetti Fiorucci and her sister's family Ada Benedetti Brugnoni. My mother says that Elsie was friends with Amelia Brugnoni and may remember her. My mother used to visit the Cenci's and also the Parlanti's in Pennsylvania. Perhaps your grandmother has more information on the Benedetti family?

I am trying to find my children's ancestors in Italy. All I know is the names of their great grandparents Francesco/Rosa Cenci, their grandmother's name is Josephine Cenci Flores b. Dec.12, 1923 in Italy, their father's name is Francis William Cenci Flores b. Nov.4, 1951 in Rome, Italy. I have little or no contact with their father now due to divorce and they can't remember to ask when they see him. Their grandfather was Drennon L. Flores b. July 29, 1913 d. October 23, 1993, Texas. Drennon married Josephine on Sept. 29, 1950 in Italy. All I know about the Cenci family is that Rosa was called Contessa. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Donna

Not really: "capitani" in Itaian means"Captains", and in my message is referred to the fact that one of my ancestors was a People's Captain ( a sort of city army general ) in Perugia, Italy, around 1280-1330.

confesso che non ho mai avuto sufficiente pazienza per approfondire davvero le origini, anche perché è difficile trovare gente seria a cui affidarsi. C'è in giro una quantità di cialtroni e ciarlatani da non credere.

Peraltro, l'informazione che ti citavo derivava da un annuario araldico assai d'annata ( credso un'edizione 1936 o giù di lì ) che si trovava nella mia scuola superiore. Là si parlava di tale famiglia Cenci Goga, che annoverava appunto tra i suoi appartenenti anche tale Ottone Cenci citato come Capitano del Popolo a Perugia verso la fine del XIII sec.

Confesso anche che l'attribuzione a me stesso di una discendenza da detto Ottone associati è di mia origine, sulla base di una comunanza di località ( mio padre è umbro da almeno quattro generazioni ).

molto interessante. Uno zio di mio padre,
uno storico, aveva ricostruito tutto
l'albero genealogico, e noi risultiamo
discendenti (uno dei molti rami collaterali
ovviamente).
So che c'e' un ramo Toscano della
famiglia, ma non so dirti quando
ha origine. So solo che dopo la
persecuzione della Chiesa molti
dei residenti a Roma emigrarono
altrove, ma tu mi stai parlando
di un periodo antecedente (13. secolo).

Pare quindi che ci fossero rami
paralleli gia' nel medioevo piu'
remoto.

Mi piacerebbe ovviamente
saperne di piu', sono curioso
per natura. Un mio antenato
ad esempio era una specie
di "Perry Mason" dell'epoca!

My father's father was Elio Cenci, I think born in Schenectady, NY (this is noted on my father's birth certificate). Don't know date. This particular Elio was married to Adeline Yaccarino. They had 2 children, my father, Elio Orfeo Cenci and his brother Paul Cenci.

My father was born in 1925 in either Union City or Jersey City. After his father, Elio deserted the family sometime around 1930, my father, his brother and mother lived with his maternal grandmother, Rosina Yaccarino on 8th Street in Jersey City.

I really want to find out more about Elio Cenci. I always heard he deserted the family because he didn't want to work. He wanted to paint (paintings, not walls). One day, years ago when I was in high school, I saw one of his paintings in a place that buys out estates. It was $50, and being in high school, didn't have the money, didn't buy it.

I heard from my father that Elio Cenci studied at Brown University. He's not listed in the alumni directory, though. Who knows.
