hey this is 12 years later after your post, but being only 12 years old at the time of your post probably makes sense haha. Well anyways, Charles Arland Cessna is my grandfather his son David Arland Cessna is my father. I think after he left topeka he went to Beaufort NC and met my Grandmother Mary Louise Styron and they went to Florida and had my father David Arland Cessna. I beleive Mary Louise and Charles divorced and Charles was a heavy drinker and never really spent time with my father, which is ironic that my mother and David divorced when i was young and he never came around me or my brother, in which my brother is David Arland Cessna JR.

Hi Sinta,....cousin Cheryl Cessna in Fresno. Our Robert Cessna, I believe was the son of Col Charles Cessna. Charles and brother William were sons of John Cessna of Shippensburg,PA/Franklin/Cumberland Co. Maj John Cessna was their brother. In the will of John Shippensburg, 1796, he lists all of his children, including the dead ones, and there is no Thomas. There is no Stephen either.
Please contact me if you want. dutchgalncal11@comcast.net

question? Thomas Robert Cessna was the son of Robert Marion Cessna and his first wife (and second cousin, Amanda Catherine Culbertson) He was born in Dec, 1878 and 4 months later his mother died and Robert Marion remarried Margaret Samantha Tooley. Their first born was Edgar Earl Cessna, my grandfather. Uncle Tom's wife was Eddie or probably Edmonia Murphy. I am trying to find out who Eddie's parents were. Also, Tom had 3 sisters. Sister Jennie Joretta was married to David Frank Murphy and I am trying to find out if Frank and Eddie were siblings.
MARY ROSE CISNE/CESSNA

Does anyone know which cemetery MARY ROSE, b. 03 Mar 1787 PA d. 23 May 1866 Monroe County, Ohio is buried exactly ? Does anyone have an exact date of her second marriage? Trying to fill in record holes. Thanks!

She was first married to STEPHEN ALAN CESSNA/CISNE in 1805 PA. Second marriage was to MICHAEL HESS between JUNE 1831 and JUNE 1832, Monroe County, OH. MONROE County, OH Tax Records taken in JUNE 1831 list her as a widow and the tax records taken in JUNE 1832 shows all property listed to the heirs of STEPHEN CISNE. According to Monroe County tax office and genealogy society this indicates she had married after the JUNE, 1831 records and prior to the JUNE 1832 tax collector records.
I just recently started looking for Cessna relatives for my maternal cousin and this is the 1st message I've found showing any Cessnas from Texas. Her family is from Leon, TX area and a descendant of Green K. Cessna (b: 1805 TN). Possibly one of his sons (I only know of two so far), John D. and Daniel Cessna could be your grandfather's father.
John D. Cessna's (b: 1843 in Nacogdoches,TX; d: 1895 Centerville, Leon CO, TX)daughter Maggie Cessna (b: 1885 Leon, TX) is my cousin's paternal g-grandmother.

Researching husband's line.... Grandfathers name: Adam Lakota, live in Deadwood, SD & in Belle Fourche, SD. Married to Caroline Hannah Scheele. I have not been able to locate a birth record for Adam, however, marriage cert. says 1906, Ohio. His family may be Polish as there is a large population of Poles in that area. Interesting that he lived in the Lakota territories. Any info would be greatly appreciated..
Re: ROBERT CESSNA

In 1982, I visited Vicksburg, Mississippi. There I browsed the genealogy section and spent the afternoon looking up the name Cessna, Cissna, etc. I came upon a book of family wills. One family was the Osbornes out of Hinds County. As I browsed, they had a descendent who was a Cissna. In that section, they someone had submitted a family tree of a William Cissna and his wife Margaret Williamson of 'Shippentown, PA' which was suppose to be Shippensburg, which is near where the Cessnas, both William and Col Charles were from.. It listed their children and guess what? Robert wasn't on the list. Robert is a Culbertson name. It is not in the early families of the Cessnas. Robert Cessna of Muhlenberg Co and his wife, Elizabeth Cessna, named their first son Charles, their second son was Robert John Culbertson Cessna. Sorry, but they had no sons named William. In those days, the first children were named after the grandparents. Robert and Elizabeths parents were Charles Cessna and Elizabeth Culbertson and John Culbertson and his wife Mary. Robert and Elizabeths first two sons were Charles and Robert JOHN CULBERTSON. The first two daughters were named Elizabeth 'Eliza' and Mary. There is NO proof that William was the ancestor and more circumstantial proof that Col Charles was. Thanks, Cheryl Cessna, Fresno, Calif 04/12/2011

Thank you so much! I believe it is. Very handsome man. I went to see my mother on Friday and we were looking at the very old photos of my family and saw some photos of Albert. I quizzed my mother and she says to her knowledge there was only one Albert Cessna out of the Cessna family. Where did you get this photo? She also said there was a distant family member who had a box of very old Cessna photos of our family but thought maybe this woman may have thrown them out, because she really wasn't into the family history. I will print this photo and commpare to what my mother has. Thank you so much. My Cessna's were from Bedford PA and Cumberland, and Bean's Cove, MD.

I will post the photo here when I get it scanned. I just picked it up 2 weeks ago. More important right now might be that when I was looking through the stack of photos there was only a few with names on them. Some had only first name, but one I do remember had the first name, a woman, at the top and at the bottom the name "Jewell". This was not enough information to justify its purchase. Now I wish I had, because after I did some initial research and I came across a posting by Barb Smith, mentioning a Cessna / Jewell connection. I tried contacting her without sucess. It is very possible other photos could be of your family. I run into this alot, making several purchases at different times now based on just the first names. Seems to work.

Contact me off the board for information on finding the seller. Should not be too hard since I talked to her for awhile and even better if you live in west or central PA.

I was partial to the Cessna name since I know my GGrandfather was friends with some of them.

Will

Ira Cessna was my grandfather. He divorced my grandmother when my father was about 1 yr. old. This was in Petoskey, Michigan. After marrying, my father & mother went to meet him in Saxton. This would be about 1930. My father died in 1968 at age 62. His name was Thomas Goodrich Cessna. My name is Terry Cessna, I was an adoptee in 1942 as an infant. My father was a banker. I am an optician

I am a descendent of Harry Ellsworth Cessna. Born 13 May 1863 in Everett, PA. He married Anna Mary Clevenger about 1882. I have not been able to figure out who Harry's parents are. He is not in the 1870 or 1880 census. There is another Harry Cessna, son of John and Ellen, spouse of Alice Flora Easby. This is not my Harry.

Harry's parents could be someone who died in the 1860's, and so wasn't listed as a Cessna in the Census. If anyone has any clues in their own family records I would really appreciate it.
