We used to write and somehow lost touch. I am so sorry about Walter. I knew he was ill in 2001 when we were sharing Chacey information becuase you were not going to the Chacey Reunion in Pagosa Springs because he could not travel because of his health. Or am I wrong? Anyway, I am sorry. So very recent for you. I am out the door this morning but will get back to you later today. I too have not been able to do much with my geanology the past few years but am looking forward to getting back to it. I will tell you more about the Galloway conection later. I just saw your post from over a year ago and hope this will still reach you, that you haven't changed emails in that time. My great grandmother was a Chacey and I am in touch with a number of the Chacey family members.I attended a reunion in 2001 of Chaceys. It is an uncommon name because it was changed by one man in the late 1700s from Chasey. All the Chaceys are descended from him and his sons. They are still out there though. I descend through Daniel CHASEY/CHACEY and Elizabeth ALLEN. Then Samuel W. CHACEY AND Anna Salome WARNER, Elizabeth CHACEY/Joseph GALLOWAY/GALLAWAY to John GALLAWAY/Sarah SWAISGOOD to Calvin GALLAWAY/Myrtle STONE to Robert GALLAWAY/Florence BURNS then myself. There is also a George Roseberry CHACEY b. 1861 in KS, d. 1943 and bur. West Salem, OH. He was married 26 Jan 1886 to a Mary Swaisgood. I do not have the information on his parents. I have just recently started my Chacey research. I do have some information to share.

According to History of Wayne County, Ohio,From the Days of the Pioneers to the Present Time by Ben Douglas, Wooster, OH Publ 1878. Daniel a native of Saratoga Co. NY, with his wife immigrated to Wayne Co. as early as 1814-15. Settling near Lattasburg. Died at his son's home, Samuel near Congress village about 1867. He married Elizabeth Allen. Samuel was born in Saratoga Co. NY,21 Oct 1802 and came to OH with his father. Married Selona Warner, 26 Jul 1826 and had 12 children. She died 2 May 1873, and he 15 Jul 1876. I do not have a reference to a book on Chacey, but there is a family file at the Wayne Co. Library in Wooster, OH. I was under the assumption that I was a decendant of Samuel and Anna Salome Warner Chacey, but I desecend thru Daniel and Elizabeth (Allen) to Elizabeth Chacey, a sister to Samuel,and Joseph Galloway. I do have information on the Warner line. There is a book in the Wayne Co. Library and the Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland, OH on the Warner Family. Email me at marvarn@apk.net

Chacey family in Iowa

I am doing research on my mother-in-law's mother's side of the family. There is a lady by the name of Celia O. Eyestone (maiden name) who was married to Ulysses S Chacey (I think that he went by the name of Sherman.) They were married in 1889 and lived in the Martinsburg, Iowa area. They are buried at the Mt. Zion cemetery near Martinsburg, Iowa. They are listed in the 1900 Iowa census in Keokuk county. They had nine children. Usysses father was a gentleman by the name of Ithamar was born April 14, 1830, in Wayne county, Ohio, and lived there until 1856. He married Miss Mary E. Wettmer, October 9, 1851; she was born in Pennsylvania; they have five children living: Ithamar J., Ida R., Ulysses S., Elmer W., Samuel C.; lost three: William S. B. Almaina E., and Mary E. A. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
