Erlon R. Chadbourn, b.1855, son of Sylvanis/Surina, wife Lillian, all lived in Androscoggin Co., ME

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “E. R. Chadbourn”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Lewiston (Androscoggin Co.) ME, and he looks to be about age 30.

I found his name to be Erlon R. Chadbourn, and 1900 census for Lewiston, ME shows birthdate Mar 1855, his wife was Lillian G., his occupation was a journalist and they lived next to his parents, Sylvanie and Surina. A newspaper found on Ancestry.com shows he was born March 25, 1855 in Auburn, ME and was early a printer and a writer. In 1920 census for Middlesex Co., MA, his occupation was newspaper correspondent.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Erlon R. Chadbourn.

Finding Chadbournes...

Wow...

I recently found my biological father's family history online and found that my great great grandmother was Elsie E. Chadbourne daughter of Charles Humphrey Chadbourne. She married my father's great grandfather John Kaliher. So I have been tracing just the direct lineage back and having an amazing time discovering the other half of me, so to speak. I have some more search to do and it will be fun when I later add all that families of Chadbournes onto my ongoing genealogical software. Thanks you all for being so generous with the info. Been searching for 15-20 years but wasn't even sure what my bio father's grandparents were.

Charles W Chadbourne, b abt 1877 Mattawamkeag, ME

Looking for info on Charles W. Chadbourne, born about 1877 in Mattawamkeag, Maine. He first enlisted in 1899, served in the Signal Corps, was commissioned an officer in 1917 and was still in the Army, as of 1920.

On 2 March 1910, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Army Lieutenant Benjamin Foulois made the world’s first military flight in an heavier-than-air craft. On the ground, 1LT Foulois was supported by a small group of relatively unknown enlisted men who appear in the few pictures from the time around the event. The soldier listed above was one of these men.

The Fort Sam Houston Museum is trying to put names to images and are looking for pictures of these men. Is this soldier a member of your family? Do you have a picture of him, or stories to tell about his involvement in this event, or his other military service?

If so, please contact Jackie Davis, either through this forum (I can’t access it at work), or better, at jackie.davis@us.army.mil
Hi all,
I have no familial connection to the Chadbournes of Maine, but am in posession of a 1904 diary of a Joseph Harris Chadbourne of Maplewood Maine. He makes allusions to Saco and Neufield. He mentions family members repeatedly; Caro and Abbie, and works with a neighbor named Al. If this diary is of interest to family members, I would like to see it in the posession of relatives for historical purposes.
My contact: 845-255-7819 or deahnara@hotmail.com.
Deahnara Regan

I am in search of a George Walter Chadbourn. He was born in either Maine or Massachusetts. In August of 1856.
Now the problem is, either he or his father had an issue and one of them dropped the Chadbourn off their name. So, he went by George Walter Henry in later years. Those years I have. I am trying to find the connection to the Chadbourn though. He married a Jeanette Hoague in Missouri and they had two children, Bernice and Walter. I have all of their info. But nothing before 1879 when Walter was born.

My greta great grandfather is Alonzo H. Chadbourne. He was from Biddeford/Kennebuncport, ME and married Almira B. Lane. They had a daughter Bertha Chadbourne, who is my great grandmother, who lived to be in her 90s. She married a prominent man named Henry Dean from Worcester, MA. He had a brother name E. Stanley Dean, who was married to Wilma. Bertha gave birth to Charlotte Grace Dean in the 1890's and also had a daughter named "Bertha" who died when she was 5. My grandmother Charlotte married Earl Trefery Dunham in the 1920s in Maine, where they lived for a short time in Portland. They had two kids Patricia June Dunham (Oburchay) and my father Robert Dean Dunham, who died on Aug. 6, 2001 in Sarasota, FLA. My father also had a brother named Richard who died in childbirth. The Chadbourne, Dean Dunham family burial plot is located at the Hope Cemetery in Worcester, MA...you'd have to call the town hall for directions and to get any death/marriage certificates. The Dunham's were from Scotalnd and later moved to Nova Scotia. I am 33 years old and I am half Japanese. My father Robert had married 3 times and my mother was his thrid wife. I can be contacted at Clcokin7@aol.com or Hapagrl7@aol.com...Emiko MOyes

Chadbourne Burial Plot -Limerick,Maine

I have recently found out that my Evans ancestors are buried in the Chadbourne Burial Plot in Limerick, Maine. The burial plot is on land that is said to have once been owned by the Chadbourne family. This Chabourne Burial Plot is now on private property now owned by Francis R. Carroll of Limerick, Maine. The Chadbourne Burial plot is located south of Limerick, Maine off of Route 5 and about 4 miles along on Enterprise Road. The plot is 200 yards to the right of a cleared field. Burird in the Chadbourne Burial Plot are: Dudley and Olive ______Evans, Philip Chadbourne Esq., Captain Joseph Chadbourne, John Pierce and his wife Amy _____Pierce, and eleven unmarked stones. I wonder if Olive's maiden name was Chadbourne and if Amy's maiden name was Chadbourne.

Great! Do you have him in the 1850 Mason County, KY, census? If so, then how old is he; where was he born. I am more interested in his wife, Talitha, whose maiden name is Braswell. They were married in Sumner County, TN. I would like to know how old she is. There are other families in Mason County that may connect with this Talitha: Word, for one. I just haven't done too much research in this county and guess I will have to do more now. Knowing where John Chadbourne is from might help me to know who Talitha belongs to. Anything you can tell me about him/her would be greatly appreciated.

This has to be the son. John Chadbourne married Tabitha Brassell on 13 July 1818 in Sumner County, TN. John Bell was the bondsman. I'm anxious to find Tabitha's age. That's all I know. I assume the one in 1850 in Mason County was the same John Chadbourne.
