I am trying to determine if Elizabeth Chain, my 3rd g-grandmother who married David Gilson/Gilston/Gillson before 1790 in Cumberland County, Pa, was the daughter of William Chain of PA.

David Gilson and Elizabeth Chain are documented as married in some family history complied by Mamie Woods in the early 1900's. David and Elizabeth (Chain) Gilson moved to Columbiana County, Ohio between 1800-1809. My g-g-grandfather Richard Gilson and his brother David were born in Pa 1790 and 1797. I am sure there was other siblings am sure only of a younger sister named Mathilda Gilson who married Jacob Shively in Columbiana County, Oh 1834.

I found several Chain families in Columbiana County, OH, and that William Chain (Jr) owned land very near my other g-g-g-grandfather Joseph Wollam, and my g-g-grandfather Richard Gilson, as well as several other cousin families including the March's and Lowerys. All properties were located on either side of the ElkRun Twp and Madison Twp boundary lines. (Richard Gilson married Sarah Wollam. in 1825 Columbiana County, Oh.) William Chain, age 78, b. PA. died in Columbiana Cty, Oh and is listed in the 1860 Mortality Schedule if anyone needs the record I have it.

I would greatly appreciate any help or advice where to search for any information on Elizabeth Chain Gilson to determine her parentage. I am particularly interested in books I could research.
