There is evident confusion in many records between two Lorenzo Chamberlins, both born about 1810. The Lorenzo Dow Chamberlin, b. c1810, NY (per 1860 Census), who m. Mrs. Susan (-?-) Wilcher/Welcher, 26 Mar 1833, Jackson Co., MO, is listed with his wife and children in 1850 & 1860 Census records in Tazewell Co., IL. He is listed with wife Lydia, age 38, in 1850 (and several children, but birth places not shown for anyone), then with wife Susan, age 45, in 1860, which suggests confusion in their names (possible error in the Census), or possibly a polygamous marriage. There is also confusion in the records regarding his childrens' names & dates. The parents of this Lorenzo are unknown.
Lorenzo Chamberlin, b. 27 Jul 1810, Pomfret, Windsor Co., VT, is 1 of 8 children recorded for Lemuel & Rebecca (Dunham) Chamberlin [Lemuel's ancestry has been traced back to Henry(1)]. Lorenzo is listed as a farmer, age 39, b. VT, living with his parents there in the 1850 Census, and a Lorenzo Chamberlin is listed again there in 1860 (data not seen), presumed to be the same person. I don't have any more information on this Lorenzo.
Obviously, these cannot be the same persons. There are several other Lorenzo D. Chamberlain/lins in my records, by the way.
Your message also mentioned the Chamberlain Chain. Though no longer published, back issues can still be ordered from the Editor/Publisher, Carolyn Weidner [Email: email@example.com
