I don't believe that I've heard further from you. How are you connected to Edward Stewart/Jane Sommerville or to William Chamney/Jane Annesley? William was my 3x great grandfather on my paternal line. His parents were most likely John Chamney and Mary Wybrants of Glenealy Parish, Co Wicklow. Cheers Deb Flanagan

Edward Stewart was married to Jane Sommerville and then to Isabella Armstrong, nee Watson. Edward's obituary mentioned that he came from Co Tyrone.

The Chamneys were from Ballymoat, Glenealy Parish, Co Wicklow. William Chamney married Jane Annesley in Dunganstown Parish, Co Wicklow in 1826. I'm descended from their 3rd son, Thomas Edward who married Margaret Stewart in 1853 in Tecumseth Twp, Simcoe Co, Ontario.

I'm also very interested in the Chamney/Stewart families who emigrated from Ireland and eventually settled in Listowel, Ontario.

I have traced the Chamney's and the Stewart's to Simcoe County, Ontario but I haven't had any concrete proof where in Ireland they emigrated from. I've seen alot of sites that state they emigrated from Wicklow County, would you know where in Wicklow County?

The Stewart and Chamney families are inter-connected both in Ireland and in Ontario. I have information on the Chamney's and the Stewart's that I would like to share.

I've traced the Chamney family back quite aways but I'm stuck on the Stewart's about 1813 (Edward Stewart born <1813> who married Jane Annesley/Jane Sommerville. I think there is a question about Edward's wife's last name. Is it Annesley or Sommerville and what is the connection? I know in your message board you state that Jane Annesley is married to William Chamney, could you give me your reasons why you think this?

Thomas Edward Chamney married Margaret Stewart who was born November 30, 1833, Ireland. I know that both Thomas and Margaret were born in Ireland but I'm wondering if they were married in Ontario.

I would love to hear from you and exchange information.

Eventually settling in Perth Co, Listowel raising a family of at least seven including Thomas Edward Chamney b 1830. Who were Williams parents? Where is William buried as wife Jane is in Fairview Cemetery Listowel?

Just spotted your query. My wife Barbara is connected to this line as her ggrandparents were Thomas Edward Chamney and Margaret Stewart. Per chance is your Stewart connection the sister of Margaret? Most of our info comes via Deb Flanagan who you have corresponded with also. Do you happen to have a photo of Margarets Stewarts parents: Edward Stewart and Jane Sommerville??

Marcus Mitchell Chamney was my great-grandfather. We have a census page copy from Portsmouth, England, when he was a child. Apparently he was born at Hampton Court, and family verbal lore says his father had been a baker to the king there.

Looking for info on his father and grandfather. Can anyone help? Possibly someone with an ancestor who was Marcus's sibling?

We live in Lanark Co and know that 2 of Edward's sisters came here. One of my cousins - Eleanor Henderson did a lot of our research. We have pretty good info on Edward's line from when he arrived in Can until now.

I've actually been working on my Chamney family tree for a number of years now. I'm still in the process of correcting Potter T Chamney's work. He came under my family.

As yet we do not know the exact connection to your Huron County Chamneys though obituaries mention cousins. The connection is back in Co Wicklow.
