I've just seen your reply and I was wondering whether any of these ring any bells. I live in Bahrain so it is rather hard for me to track anything offline. Would be very grateful for anything. Do you have any idea where the Champ family originated in this area? From the Norman Conquests? Were they originally Beauchamps or something else?
John bapt 1815 Stadhampton. John's parents Joseph Champ 1789-1841 Mary Jacobs 1792-1876. John originally a policeman dismissed 1850 (was it this John?) Brentford and Kensington and later gardener/domestic Osfordshire, died in St Mary's Workhouse Islington 1891.

Among children bapt is James mar 1774 to elizabeth leaver etc. William's parents are cited as Thomas born 1709- bur 1801and Mary Brooks born 1704.
8.Thomas b 7 aug 1709 radley berks. mar 1735 to Mary Brooks born 1704 among children is William who mar Sarah Beazley. Father John Champ.
9. John Champ born 1677 Sunningwell Berks mar (christian name Mary surname unknown. She ws bur at radley berks 1739. John bur 13 sep 1742. son Thomas who mar Mary Brookes b 1704.
10. John of Sunningwell berks england. Born about 1650? Wife name unknown. Children Elizabeth bapt 23 May 1675, Sunningwell, John born 24 July Sunningwell 1677 wife b mary 30 Nov 1739 Radley etc and William 9 April 1682 Sunningwell.
