I'm sorry Jennie, but I'm not sure if you received my message regarding our Champ connection in Berkshire. The family thought our Champs were huguenots but this now seems less likely. I am a New Zealand descendant of Katherine Champ, Islington, born 1887, daughter of Charles Champ 1849 Kensington and Sarah Platt, son of John (Stadhampton) 1815 and Alice Adolpha Duncan(Essex) etc.

The important thing is that although we were told about this hugenot connection it does not appear to be accurate and we seem to have been firmly based in Berks to 1650.

We would be very grateful for anything you might be able to add, any confirmations, relations or information about the origins of our Champs. We would love to be able to take them back further in Sunningwell but I can imagine that to be extremely difficult. Because I am living in Bahrain it is unfortunately impossible for me to discover much more.

9. John Champ born 1677 Sunningwell Berks mar (christian name Mary surname unknown. She ws bur at radley berks 1739. John bur 13 sep 1742. son Thomas who mar Mary Brookes b 1704.
