My Grandfather William Champ owned a Tool and Die business in Downtown Detroit. He was Canadian by birth. His parents died early victims of a lightning strike. William went to live on an Ontario Farm with his uncle, John Champ. He married an Irish girl named Dolly Stephens and they moved to Windsor Ontario. They had three children including his brother Jack who lived in the Toronto area and his sister Hazel who lived in Cochran Ontario. My Father, Arthur William, married Leila White and they lived all of their lives in Windsor. He worked in my grandfather's shop and I in turn worked there for a short period of time as I attended the University of Detroit. My wife Mary (nee Duralia) and I lived in the Toronto area for a short time but now we reside in the Windsor area. I have one son Larry and four daughters. Larry, who resides in Grimsby Ontario, has 4 children, two sons, Michael and Matthew.
I recall that my grandfather said that our name was changed to Champ from Chamberlain at some point in the distant past and that our roots are in the United Kingdom. There was a thought that there may have been a blackfoot indian in our family line.
