I'm from the Patrick Henry and Thomas H. line.

Two of us (cousin's) are working to join the DAR and SAR as earlier family members have.

You can Google William or John Pendleton - look for Jamaia Pendleton or Judith Pendleton Gaines.
The family married into the same families many times and you can get lost fast!

Good Luck

I am working to join DAR and they will not take Thomas married to Katherine F Copper - which is my line on his line. I must go to Judith Pendleton Gaines (his third wife)my line or Catherine/Katherine Sinnett (John Copper Chancellor's wife). We are related on the Pendleton side (Google, William or John)
To Pres. Madison and Penn signer of the Const. Pendleton also had a coniction to James Monroe (family somewhere in the line)
Look up Ricard Gaines or Richard Copper Gaines. Everyone married into the same families many times. Good luck
Chancellor male cousin took NatGenom test the backs up the French to England/Scotland line.

I am searching for the Parents of Kindred Hardee, b. 1800 (Census says Georgia) d. 1875, Clarke Co., MS. m. Margaret Chancellor, daughter of Gilbert Chancellor. They had children: Thomas Jefferson b. 1827 Wilcox Co., AL, Martha Jane b. 1828, Wilcox Co.Al, Gilbert b. 1820, AL, Mary A. 1832 Al, Amanda P. b. 1839, AL, Louisa L. 1841 AL, Leonard S. 1841, John b. 1843 Al, William A. 1836 Al, Kindred, Jr. 1852, AL. My GGGrandmother was Martha Jane m. William Eddins. I keep hitting a "brick wall" in locating Kindred's parents. I have tried the Scott's naming pattern, and draw a blank on that. Does any one have any idea as to where I might find his parents? Any help is welcome. James

I suspect your William James is related to my Abraham H Chancellor who was born in SC in 1792. One or two brothers later moved to AL about 1823. My Abraham's father was Jeremiah b. abt 1760 in SC. Abraham names one son born in 1823 James W. but he died the same year. Perhaps William James is a Nephew of Abe and a son of Jeremiah. Jeremiah's father was also named Jerimiah b. abt 1730 in England.

Their children are Minnie Ola (my grandmother), Zora Roxie and Lula. 1900 Meridian Census shows Jane E(widow) and her 3 daughters living at home with her mother and father. Altho this info is recorded in family Bibles, I can find nothing else about him. Many Chancellors in that neck of the woods but I can't find him. HELP!

I'm sure others are caught up in the mystery of who was Amos Rawlinsons first wife Minna. Has anyone done any extensive research trying to find out her last name? Would like to know what research has been done if any....I find it unusual that my GG Grandfather Henry B Rawlinson's middle name is Brown and Amos' last son Clinton's middle name is also Brown....leads me to think Minna was possibly a cousin of Pheriby's? Perhaps she was a Chancellor or maybe a Brown?

"Tho Chancelor and Ruth Robinson with Lycence. Patr Muckleroy security. Ret the 6th day of Octob'r 1692 viz Wash: and Canc only."

SOURCE: Virginia Colonial Abstracts, 1653-1657
Page 692

This announcement appears on the same page as the following:

"these are in this volume and even if out of time and place they are authentic and to be relied upon. The explanation being that this is an old sheet of paper pasted in the back of this book and apt to be overlooked by students since great numbers of blank pages precede it. It is marked in a modern hand 'Taken from an old Board in the Back of book'. It is to be presumed that this original is of circa 1690 plus. The first entry, apparently having to do with awards for wolves' heads is practically destroyed".

There are other marriages listed on the same page which was "pasted in the back of the book."

I just did a quick check and it appears that Abe Chancellor was a descendant of Jerimiah Chancellor which is the Carolina line of Chancellors. They are not in my data base--I maintain a family history file for the Chancellor line that settled in Somerset Co., Maryland in 1682. If you cannot find it. Post again and I will try to copy and send the info I found.

Hello. My gr-gr-gr grandparents were John Carroll Bulger and Dicy Chancellor. Alot of history in Smith County. Others researching the same state they were both buried in Edom in Van Zandt Co. I can find nothing to support that. Did you happen to run across any info on them? Dicy was the daughter of Elizabeth Blackwell and Abraham Chancellor. Would love to know where they're buried at too. Glad to know you cous;-)

Hi, I'm Deborah Chancellor. I was married to Gillis (Tigger) Marion Chancellor, Jr. We lived in Chickasha OK. We moved to Indiana, and had a daughter named Tracie. Gillis went back to OK, where he married again (while we were still married in IN. He has several children. He has a brother, Tommy, who is married and currently residing in Tx. His sisters, Judy, Cheryl and Teri still live in OK. Tracie has been in touch with them. We are researching our family tree and would like more info on the Chancellor clan. Gillis (Tigger's dad) married Fayedean Lewis and lived in Chickasha. Judy married and divorced and has 1 son. Tigger died a few years ago. If you have, or need, more info, please let me know.

My gggrandfather, Charles Lewis, is on record as having married Mary Chancellor in Autauga County, Alabama 27 Sep 1836, but we can't seem to get anywhere finding out who her parents were. She is shown to have been born about 1824-5. I had thought maybe Moses Chancellor could be her father, but he doesn't seem to quite match up with her. Moses was on the same census page with Charles in 1840 in Autauga, AL. Does anyone have Moses or any of his family in their records?

Charles married Margaret McMillion in Nov. 1856, so I am assuming that Mary died between the birth of my ggrandmother, Rebecca, in 1849 and the date of the marriage in 1856 to his 2nd wife.

The Chancellor Family Archive only contains the descendants of George and how they married into the Chancellor family. That information does not include George's country of origin.
Jody, I am now familiar with this book. I found a copy in the library in Sylacauga, AL and then eventually found a copy I could afford online. It was a real revelation to me. I live in Elmore County and Minyard's family lived only about 5 miles from my house! T.J. Chancellor also lived in a community here in Elmore county with my husband's ancestors! I am assuming that he is buried here in Elmore County but I have searched all the cememtery records for Elmore and coosa Counties and so far have not found a marked grave. A Jesse Chancellor sent me the info about the book through this post on Ancestry. I have just in the last two weeks found pictures and addresses of some Chancellors at my mother's in a box that belonged to my grandmother, Annie Henry Chancellor Mathews. I do not know who the people are in the pictures but I now recognize the address of G. M, Chancellor as her half brother. The envelope is dated 1961 and I know see that he died in 1969. I would like to connect with these cousins if you have any information about this line. Thank you so much for your contact.

It has a lot of info about Minyard and his parents. You can locate a copy thru Worldcat.com. I'm a descendant of Jeremiah Chancellor thru his son William and grandson George Washington Chancellor. Will be glad to share info.
Jody Davis
