Hi, I'm trying to trace my ancestry back to the first member of my family to come to America. Actually, I'm trying to prove an old family tale of two brothers who came to America together, one stayed in the North, stayed Chauncey, and one came to the South, became Chancey. My mother was Barbara Chancey of Jacksonville, FL. Her father was Warren Lott Chancey of Charlton Co., GA. Papa's father was Wade Lee Chancey of Charlton Co., GA, and Wade's father was Samuel J. Chancey of Appling Co., GA and is from his second marriage. Samuel J.'s father was Samuel Chancey of South Carolina, and this is where I run into a brick wall. I know that this Samuel or his father was the one to move my family to GA between 1790 and 1816. Any help would be welcome!!!!
