I don't have much information...but I hope what I have will be enough. I am searching for a baby girl born on November 19, 1989 to Cheri Chapdelaine. I don't have the baby's name...but she was adopted by new parents. One of the adoptive parents was apparently working for the U.N. and the other parent was a doctor. Cheri's parents are apparently from West Virginia. My daughter is the half-sister of the baby girl and is desperately wanting to find her sister. If anyone has any information about this baby, please contact fishpondpoppy@live.com. Thank you very much.

The identity of Julien Chapdelaine's parents is unknown. As far as I know, the record of Julien's marriage to Jeanne Le Masson does not include the parents' names.

A French researcher, Philippe Landru (his Web site no longer seems to exist) has performed exhaustive investigations, and has not been able to connect Julien to known Chapdelaine families in France.

I believe we may be distant relatives. My grandmother on my mother's side was Antonia Chapdelaine. She married Thomas LeBrun 18 Aug 1902 in Suncook NH. Her father was Isaie Chapdelaine who married Ludivine Lupien on 10 Feb 1872 in Yamaska PQ. His parents were Benoni and Josephette Desmarais Chapdelaine married 7 Feb 1842 in St Francois du Lac PQ. Next were Charles and Genevieve Joyal Chapdelaine married 16 Aug 1762 in St. Francois du Lac PQ which brings us to Pierre and Jeanne Forcier Chapdeliane which you have mentioned. I live in Rochester NH.

I tried again, choosing different buttons/links, and was able to link in to the data base with no fee involved. I think I was using the "Search" button when I should of been using the "Database" one... for anyone else interested. Looks like a great resource. Thanks again.

Apparently, there were two different couples with the same names (Joseph Chapdelaine, Marguerite Dupré), in the same area at the same time! One couple was married 10/01/1821 in Saint-Ours, and the other one 01/27/1824 in Saint-Jude. As either couple could be the parents of the Joseph Chapdelaine who married Célina Millet in 1855, it will be very difficult to identify the actual ancestry.

You can find both in Robert P. LaRochelle's data base on this Web Site.

Chapdelaine dit Lariviere (Rivers)

I am seeking the birth record of Joseph Louis Chapdelaine Lariviere. An approximate date is 28 Mar 1857.
In the USA his year of birth seemed to change slightly. I suspect he gave his age as a little older so he could work in the mills in CT and RI (USA) and later, as he aged, he seemed to grow a little younger. In reassurance, I have checked carefully, and have not confused him with another man of the same name.
I believe his parents will be given as Joseph F Chapdelaine LaRiviere and Celina Millet. (It is likely the F stands for Fremont or possibly Francis) Joseph junior may have a sister who was born around 1862, named Marie or Mary. She would be the daughter of Joseph senior and Celina.
I suspect the area of birth will be Quebec, possibly St Jude or St Ours where Joseph senior's marriages occured. Joseph junior married in the USA.
I'm quite new at French-Canadian research, have limited finances to spend on it, and I find it very confusing.
My brother and his sons are direct line male descendents on the Chapdelaine dit Lariviere line. I would like to pursue this and develop a nice history for our grandchildren, if possible. I'm not so sure my skills meet this task. I have done enough genealogy to know that there are researchers who are very skilled and experienced at working the French Canadian names. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'll soon join the AFGS!

I was led to believe that Julien (who married Jeanne le Masson), that his father was Jean Chapdelaine who married Francoise Brochet. Any record I have found on Jean indicates that he never had a son Julien. My question is do you know who Julien's father was? I am so confused now that I don't know who Andre's brothers and sisters were. The siblings who I thought belonged to Andre, turned out to be children of Herve Chappedelaine and Jacquette Dubois. These records came from Bigenet. Do you have any information on who Julien's father was? Any help would be appreciated.

Andre the son of Julien had 15 children that we know of....one of them being Pierre. Now that is not to say Pierre isn't somewhere else in the line as well, meaning the name Pierre, because many were names used over and over, named after relatives.

Hi Vern,
Im sorry it has taken so long to get back to you, we're preparing for my husband's next deployment, just very busy. This is what I have....I have more info for each person, but this is on Julien.

Julien Chapdelaine
maried to- Jeanne Le Masson

son- Andre Chapdelaine

Father - Jean Chapdelaine
------------------------------
Julien Chapdelaine, born in Plomb in 1634, married Jeanne Le Masson in Plomb on July 22, 1663. They had several children, one of whom was Andre, who came to New France in 1687. They had been living in the hamlet called La Rivière (Plomb is divided into five hamlets even today) and that`s where André was born and why he bore the name Chapdelaine dit Larivière, the dit meaning "also know as." About the time that André left, the Chapdelaines moved to another Plomb hamlet, Douétils. There, Julien built several nice
homes and when he died in 1694, the townspeople gave him the honorary name of their hamlet so he was buried as Julien Douétils dit Chapdelaine.
I hope this was helpful and what you're looking for...please let me know as soon as you read this. I have more like I said let me know if you'd like more. For now~~Marcy

Vern,
1. I have no record of who Julien's (married to Jeanne LeMasson) parents are.
2. Andre, son of Julien and Jeanne, I have no record of any siblings. This is not to say there weren't any, but I have no information on this matter - probably since these siblings were probably all born in France.
3. I don't have a record of Herve married to Jacquette Dubois (same comment as above).
4. I don't know what "Bigenet" is - is it another person?
5. I suspect that Julien's marriage record is somewhere in France - that would be a place to start...

Robert

March, 1977 in Ramsey County, Minnesota) married an unknown Brown, and Edmund (no information).

Eliza's parents are Moise H. Binet (d. 1910 Ramsey County, MN) and Marie Onesime Cinq-Mars Guillet (d. c. 1897).

For those interested I have Eliza's ancestry back to Rene Binet, who is listed in the 1666 Quebec census.

Thank you.
