This Roswell Chapin was in Butler Co, OH by 1820, when he md. Sarah Marsh. His birth year is calculated from age on 1820 - 1860 censuses.
It has been suggested that he is the son of Daniel Chapin and Lucy Martin. (1.5.7.4.3)And the given names do follow the same pattern. (Daniel, Samuel, Joseph, Margaret Lucinda and unknown others) However he is alleged to have a birthdate of Dec 20, 1790, which could not be if he were age 66 in 1850.
How many Roswell Chapins were there born, say, 1780 - 1790? I know by 1820 there were 3 old enough to be heads of households on censuses - MA, NY, and OH.
