C.A.Chapin-locomotive engineer CALIF 1860s

Thanks for the reply. I really don't know much more. The C.A.Chapin I'm after was a loco engineer on the Sacramento Valley RR in the late 1850s. Perhaps much longer. He would have lived in Sacramento or Folsom, CA. I found a Charles A. Chapin as a stockholder of a connecting railroad, right next to names of other engineers conductors, so figured that would be him. I have a cite to a Charles Augustus Chapin's will in San Francisco Call on 12 May 1893, but have never looked that up-so don't know if that's the same guy, and a will might not say. What I'm after are birth and death dates and full name. I'm working on a book that mentions that RR and crews, and like to give full dates and names. Any reason to suspect your Clarence Augustus is the guy?
