Hello, I am seeking information on the Chapman's.

Benjamin is listed in Census as of English origin, Church of England as was his 2nd wife.

His children:
1. William Jas/James b. abt 1865, Ont

she was b. Oct 19,1869 d. 1915

5. Raymond

He was a "sand & harness maker" & was in St Vincent in 1871 recently widowed, with 4 of his children.
He was in Wiarton in 1881 & 1901 Census. He went to Alberta in late 1905 to go into a partnership with his son (a harness business).
In the Sept 27,1884 issue of the Niagara Falls Gazette reported on the boat built by Benjamin ("Chapman's water-tight,self-righting boat") and how he tested it by sending it over Niagara Falls successfully.
A model of this boat was shown at the Fisheries Exhibition in England in 1883.

I do not have access to the 1861 census. I am hoping that in this census he is listed with his parents and siblings.
I haven't been able to confirm that Benjamin's parents were James & Caroline Chapman. It would also be extremely helpful to find his siblings as well.

If anyone has any information or access to the 1861 Ontario Census I would greatly appreciate any help.
Thank you so much.
Candice
