Does anyone have any information on Mary Ann Murdock, born in 1870 in Ireland, traveled to American arriving on 28 Jun, 1889 abord the ship Gallia. Married to Willard Frank Chapoton on 07 Jul, 1889 in Cooks County, Illinois. She had seven children. She died in 1930 from Tuberculosis. I'm looking for her birth date, if the marriage date is correct and place of marriage, and date of her death.

Hi Joan, Thanks for responding. Since my original posting I've learned names of Sophia's siblings and parents but your dates are most helpful. Sophia and Michael Girard were my ggrandparents so I'd heard family stories, even have a family photo of Michael and Sophia and their children but didn't know much about Sophia's family. I did know her brother William married Michael's sister Cecilia the same June 1874 as Michael and Sophia were married. Have also been to Mt. Olivet Cemetery to graves of Michael and Sophia Girard and also to Assumption Grotto where I found Louis Chapoton's, Sophia's father, grave stone but no sign of her mother Isabella/Elizabeth. I would be happy to compare notes with you if you're interested.

Hi Lynn,
Do you know the records of Fr. Boheme? He performed marriages and baptisms in the St. Clair region in MI. His records are in the Mt. Clemens, MI library. The website for the pertinant records for you would be:
www.libcoop.net/mountclemens/huron.htm
About halfway down this webpage you'll find the marriage of Amelia and Magliore. It lists Josette as Amelia's mother. But if you look a few lines above, it lists Marie Josette as a sponsor with Fr. Boheme. Is this helpful?

There are several other pages of these documents for other localities. If you return to the library's home page you can access them. There are lots of Tremblay and Chapoton entries.

My connection is George Meldrum and Marie Angelique Chapoton, my g-g-g-g-grandparents and early Detroit settlers. You and I are probably distant relatives.

Good Hunting!
Linus Meldrum

Marie-Josephine Chapoton of Michigan

Would like to find out if Marie-Josephine Chapoton (who married Michael Tremblay on Nov. 7, 1795) is the mother of Amelia Tremblay who was married in 1836 to Magloire Forton or Freton in L'Anse Creuse, Michigan. Amelia's marriage record lists Josette Chapoton and Michael Tremblay as her parents but Amelia is not recorded as the daughter of
Marie-Joseph Chapoton and Michael Tremblay in the "Genealogy of the French Families of the Detroit River Region". Does anyone have information on this family? Thanks.
