Searching for information on the family of Mary CHAPPELL DAVIS(1824-abt. 1855), daughter of Miles CHAPPELL who marrried Oliver P. DAVIS (1818-1863)in Fayette, Alabama about 1838. This DAVIS family appears on 1850 Census in Anderson Co., Texas with children Arthur, Emily, James, Susannah, Miles, all born in Alabama & where Laticia was born in 1850 and John T. in 1853. I assume Mary CHAPPELL DAVIS must have died around 1855, as the family returned to Fayette and the children were split up among the various DAVIS & CHAPPELL relatives in the 1860 Census.in Fayette, AL. In the 1850 Census of Anderson Co., Tx, they were living near Mary Chappell's younger sister Pallatine who was married to John Collier FREEMAN. The FREEMAN family remained in Texas. Oliver P. Davis died in Fayette/Tuscaloosa Alabama & his will was probated in 1863, with no mention of a wife, only the children and their spouses were listed.
