Hi My name is Leslie Carter.I am also searching the Charest /Carter name. I have been working with a tree that was done in about 1997. My husbands father is Victor Louis Carter and I think he was Ciline Maria Charest's brother.I just can't figure out how some are Charest and some are Carter. As this women traced her line to my father in laws father's home after he had passed away but one of his sons was there still. The letter stated that the man she was looking for my husbans grandfather was her great uncle.and Ciline's brother. And her grandfather was Edward Wood. Ciline Maria Charest and Lewis wood's son. You are welcome to look at what I have tried to figure out so far and maybe we can help each other.
Leslie

Bonjour M. Charest,

Merci

My great grandmother was Maggie Lee Burnett. I found a marriage certificate in Madison County Alabama dated January 10th 1899. This would have her 21 and George about 45. However in the 1900 census they are not in the same household. They are living next door to each other. Maggie is in the household with her parents and a child and the man who would later become my greatgrandfather named Elijah Bee Motes. George is living in a household with children Frank and Rosa Lee. Do you know who Frank and Rosa Lee's mother is? In 1900 Frank, I guess, is too old to belong to Maggie but Maggie's mother's name was Rosa and Maggie's middle name was Lee. Rosa Lee could possibly belong to Maggie. I would also appreciate any help you could give. I do not know for sure where George was born.
Go to USGENWEB and click on Alabama and then click on Madison, you will find what I found. P. S. I stumbled across this looking for people on another side of my family. You can email me at kevinindemo@bellsouth.net.

I think your George Charest is in Madison County Alabama in 1900 in Triana City. Morgan County is just across the Tennessee River and there is a Charest road with Charest's living there. My great grandmother was married to him at one time. Email me at kevinindemo@bellsouth.net.

I have a relative named Louie Charest (born October 3, 1845). He married a female Mastin. The thing is Louie Charest married this woman when he was about 46. My family believes that he may have had a wife prior to this woman. How would I go about finding out how to search for his previous wife (if there is one)? This has been a wonder in our family for quite some time now.
You are correct on the birth and death dates according to the social security death index. Azarias died in Manchester, Hillsborough county, New Hampshire. His SSN 003-07-1626 obtained his number in New Hampshire prior to 1951.

The 1930 census lists his wife Clementine and his age as 49 on April 1, 1930. Lists two children Henry G, son and daughter Berendie (sp?) age 9. he was living in Goffstown, Hillsborough county, New Hampshire District 10 at the time of the 1930 census. His occupaton was listed as a laborer in a shoe factory.

You might want to send for his SS-5 (application for social security number and it will list the names of at least one of if not both parents. (Cost about $28.00 US).

Hope this information is of some help.
