Does anyone know who this Alexander Stewart is? I have a 3rd great-grandfather named Alexander Stewart born 12 Jul 1808 in Ireland who was in Chariton County by 1850 but he would have been only about 11 in 1819 and would not have been eligible for a land grant.<br><br>Any ideas?<br><br>Jim Houston 2011-09-20 22:44:53Z JimHouston49 http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.chariton/5/mb.ashx http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.chariton/1/mb.ashx The name Chariton is a relatively uncommon name especially here in New Jersey. My great grandfather was Oliver Adrian Chariton born on September 6, 1836. He was married to Mary Wilson. My grandmother Harriet Chariton Howarth was one of their children. I don't know where Oliver was originally from but after marriage, he lived in Westfield, New Jersey and died on April 23, 1913 at the age of 76. He is buried in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. I do have his Bible with some family entries from him. I am looking for any ties to the Chariton name. Please e-mail me with any information.
