hello, sorry that i never replied to this, but for whatever reason nothing came through to me from 2002 till last week when i started to have some odd dreams about family information...i know that there was a charles charity, son of eva marie longland and charles littleton charity, eva was born in 1901 and passed in 1977. I don't know much more then that as until this past few weeks we didn't know we had possible relatives in the US.

This is a reply to the inquiry of Charles Littleton Charity. My name is Cindy Charity. I am new to the information that I have, on facebook there are a ton of Charity relations, some have more info then I do. I am in Canada and until a few weeks ago, never knew of family living in the U.S. There is a book that was the life's work of one woman, she indeed traced our family back to England. In this book are names, marriages, deaths, children etc. of the Charity family.

Hello, my name is Clarence Edward Charity III. My family is the Charity family from Portsmouth/Norfolk VA. My father has told me about a book that resides in Charles County VA, that traces our family back to Surrey England. I belive that we are from the same blood line. Hello, My name is Clarence Edward Charity III. I saw that you were told that you were the only Charity's in the US. Im here to tell you that you are not alone. I represent the Charity clan of Portsmouth and Norfolk Va. I have too also wondered if there were any other Charity's other than my imediate family. I was told as a child that our family history has been traced back to Surrey England. Hit me up sometime and lets compare notes. It would be cool if we found out we are related in some way. YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the Third Baptist Church for Elvin E. Charity, 79, who departed this life Monday, October 6, 2008 at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.

Mr. Charity was born Aug. 31, 1929 in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio, a son of Burl Sr. and Collin A. Washington Charity.

He retired in 1983 as a foreman at Republic Steel after 46 years. He worked for the city of Youngstown as a minority business officer and was the city park commissioner. He served on the Board of Mahoning Valley Sanitary District, was a former president of North High School Boosters, and was an Army veteran.

He leaves his wife, the former Laura J. Fortune, whom he married Nov. 10, 1949; children, Laura (Burnice) Hairston of Youngstown, Atty. Elvin E. Charity of Chicago, Dr. Allen A. (Claudia) Charity of Hubbard and Robert B. Charity of College Park, Ga.; siblings, Robert (Gertrude) Charity, Earl (Carol) Charity, and Kenneth (Patricia) Charity, all of Youngstown, Franklin (Rachael) Charity of Carrollton, Texas and Ruby (Nganga) Njoroge of Columbus; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

His parents; a sister, Bunise Ellison; and four brothers, Ronnie, Burl Jr., Joseph and Nathaniel Charity, preceded him in death.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home Inc.

I would be very interested in information about the Charity family from Surry Virginia...My gggg grandfather Joseph Roberts married an Elizabeth Charity who was born about 1783...her father was David Charity born about 1749....I came across information from Paul Heineggs Free African Americans of Virginia and am always looking for more information if I can get it....Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated..My family tree is FPOCSurryVa if youd like to take a look...

Bill Charity (Rugby Player) at RAF Kirton-in-Lindsey was Captain of the Base 7-a-side team which, given no chance, progressed to the Tech Training Command Tournament at RAF Innsworth to meet the top side Innsworth - only lost in extra time.
Many people who remember Bill Charity at Kirton would like to hear from him.

Not sure if your going to need this now since its been so long, but here it goes. My George Charity of Seaton, Rutland, England had a four sons. In researching my line I have found a Barrowden line pop up every now and then on the LDS site. Hope this helps you out some.

Im having a little trouble finding any info on one of my relos. I have gone back through my charty line to find that the name was changed to charty from charity in around 1826. I have a George Charity b about 1681 in seaton rutland england but can't seem to find any more info at all. If anyone has any info please let me know.
Oh and my line is now living in Australia is that helps anyone else out.

William Thomas Charity

My great-grandfather, William Thomas Charity, was born in Barrowden, England in 1842. In 1876 he was in Sullivan County, New York married to a Mary E. (or Polly) a Canadian, where my grandfather George Henry Charity was born. Eventually William Thomas bought a farm in Plattsburgh, NY where my grandfather and later my father, George William, grew up. These are very sketchy details and if anyone can help me fill in the blanks I would be deeply appreciative.

Thanks for the reply, to be honest i'm not sure if this is what i'm looking for, all i know is that a charles littleton charity married an eva longland who was native indian from canada. I'm really not sure of where Charles was orginally from.

HI, My family is the Charity family from Surry and Charles City County, VA. There was a Littleton Charity in this family who moved to New Bedford, MA in the mid 1800s.This was a mixed race family. If this is the family that you are looking for, I have a lot of information for you.

My Great grandfather was Albert Huff, born abt 1842 in Hartland ME and died Jan 9 1903 in Pittsfield ME. On his death cert. it states that his partents were Horatio Elizabeth (Reynolds) Huff. Albert m Laura A. Benton. I see posted on this board in other places that Mehitable Reynolds, instead of Elizabeth, her sister, m Horatio. This needs some research.
