Hi, Adrian; I'm finally able to get back to you -- I do apologize for taking so long. The group picture is of Gertrude & Fred; Harold is one of the sons, would guess the one in the middle is Fred, Jr. -- have a couple baby pix of him and he was "roly-poly"! Fred, Jr. married a lady named Margaret and died in a car accident in Tucson,AZ in 1954. Harold married and died in Yakima,WA in 1978, got meet his son, Dennis. Other son is Chester and daughter of Fred & Gertrude is Roslyn who married David Radcliff. Unfortunately I don't have the spouses names for Harold & Chester -- my bad!! Hope this helps. Sharon

Oh, Wow! You have pictures I've not seen before! I have pix of my Grandfather,R.E. Charlet and his family, and some wedding type pictures; the only one of Charlie Frantum is an old group picture, dark, and fairly blurry. :-( I'll go back into my records tomarrow and see what I can find. Not to worry about the spelling --- it's late and I'm having a hard time thinking!
S.

Sharon - This isn't my family, I run a genealogy library and one of our websites is for identified photos. If you go to www.picasadilly.com just choose Surname C, then Charlet. I have put the captions below what the photos said, if you could let me know what you think is incorrect or incomplete (like which brother is which) it will be appreciated.

Okay Sharon, You are the lucky one because you have the last message posted in this thread. I have a number of photos of the Iowa Charlets and the Ohio Frantums, even grandmother Kinney. I have one of of Harold? and Gertrude (Frantum) Charlet. It is labeled Harold, not sure that is correct. I have one of them later on with the 4 kids. I can guess the girl is Rosaleen (as it is spelled on a baby photo of her, but don't know which of the three sons are which. I do have a wedding photo of one of them, as well as a couple of Harold Frantum, a couple of Marion Frantum Ickes, a four generation photo, and some I am not who they are? If I post them on my website can you help with the id'ing of them?

My great-grandfather was Julius Charlet (Charlett?) who faught in the Civil War in the Ill. 124th Infantry, co. F. From 1862 -Aug. 15, 1865. He lived outside the city of Kewanee in Henry County, Illinois on a farm. I know he had siblings, but I'm not sure they lived in the US. His daughter married Augustuv Gutschlag, my grandfather. I think his wife may have had the maiden name Couve or Lemke. Not sure if that is much help.

I was wondering if anyone had any information on a Joseph Charlet and his wife Virginia. Joseph was born around 1809 in France. I found him in the 1850 Federal Census living in NYC with his wife Virginia and another woman, Agnes Laquay. They lived next door to Bertrand (?) and Adel Latapie. I can't find them in the 1860 census although Agnes and the Latapies are in Plainfield, NJ during this time. Then Joseph and Virginia pop back up living with Agnes and the Latapies in the 1870 census in Plainfield, NJ.

I'm very interested in Agnes Laquay as my maiden name is LaQuey, but I'm wondering if there is some connection between her and the Charlets or Latapies. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Jessica

He was in a car accident if I can remember correctly.

My father has a brother Roger Charlet. Fred was married to Ruth at one time, but were divorced. I am not able to remember her maiden name.

I don't know if this is what you were looking for.

At this point--anything is possible! I can go back to Frederick W. Charlet, born in 1816 in Brandenburg, Prussia. I have a copy of an 1856 passenger list that spells his name 'Charles', an 1860 census that spells it 'Charley', an 1880 census spells it 'Charlette', and an 1895 census spells it 'Charlet'!! This is all the information I have on the ancestor of our family other than his naturalization document spells the name 'Charlet'.

Hello all! My name is Melissa Jandl, formerly Melissa Charlet, decending from William J Charlet, Frank J, Frank C, Frank D, and then I. I am sending out this message in hopes that any Charlet (or family member married into ours) that reads it, will be willing to help for the cause of keeping family history alive. I am asking that any information and photocopies of pictures that you have of members (new or old) of the family be sent to me. I will in turn, do the same for you. The way I see it, we need to work together to piece all of it together. I was lucky enough to talk with family in Arizona who have been very helpful in this, and I hope anyone else will too! I'll do the best I can to help you also. Married family names include (but are not limited to) Faber, Huffman, Haggenstine, Appenzeller, Witt, and High.

PLEASE contact me by email and we can talk about it further!!! Melissa_Jandl@hotmail.com

I will no longer be available after 10 days on this site, so please use my email address!!!

Thanks for whatever help you can give!

Charlette/Cholette/Highway

Looking for Sarah Cholette who possibly married a Pierre Highway and had daughters Helen & Elizabeth and a son who died in infancy. Helen was born April 22, 1923, in Cormorant, Manitoba and resides in The Pas, Manitoba, Canada. Sarah died in 1928 from TB. She is buried in The Pas, Manitoba, Canada. She was supposedly from Cumberland House, Saskatchewan, Canada. Elizabeth might be her sister and went by the name "Charlette". She married a "Krassilowsky" in Flin Flon, Manitoba. Any information about these people would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Xavier Charlet

I'm a direct decendant of Xavier Maxime Charlet! He was my great grandfather. He is among my earliest memories. He died some time in the summer of 1980; my dad went to his funeral, so contact my dad at: jamescharlet@earthlink.net.
Xavier preferred that I call him Paw Paw, and he was nearly 90 when he died. He was born in Napoleonville in either 1890 or 1893.
Paw Paw grew up very wealthy, but his family lost it all to gambling when he was a teen. His wealth came from his grandfather, Pierre Sr., the successful riverboat captain.
I have lots more info, so e-mail me at: prolabor@bellsouth.net.

Hi, I now live in New Orleans, but my dad's family is from Paincourtville, La and Brule St. Matin, La. I am a Jr. so my dad's name is the same and he had only 1 sister LIllian. His father was Honore Walter Charlet and he was one of nine children. The only other one I know was Xavier. I am not sure of his father's name, but my great great grandfather was Piere. I will try to get more information if you would like. I know the Dugas, LeBlanc, Giroir and Poche families are related as well. Good Luck.

Hi Kevin--
I am from southern Louisiana! I grew up there until I was 7 years old. I remember living in Clinton or Ethel, LA, and going to East Feliciana Elementary. I recall having a relative that I played with at school named Don Charlet. It looks like your message has been posted for a long time, and I hope you check this message! Feel free to e-mail.
