Hi There.

My name is Shirley Evelyn Charlton. My father was George Frank Charlton who was the son of Frank Charlton and Wairakau Amuketi who was the son of John Robson Charlton who was the son of George Charleton who was married to Ann Robson and settled in Kawhia Raglan. I would be interest in anyone who could tell me more about my Grandfather Frank. Our family does not know much about him at all other then he was a skipper of a barge that ran supplies up and down the Waikato. I would love to know more about his life and if he ever married. I know that Frank and Wairakau did not marry he just fathered my father but had no hand in the raising of his son (My dad) I believe it was a complicated situation but more then that i do not know.. Can anyone shed more light on Frank and his life post the birth of my father who was born on the 8th January 1920 and died 1983 and is buried at Waingaro

I am searching for any information about William Lancelot Charleton/Charlton, died aged 56 in 1922. I am not related, but he carried out an archaeological excavation on a site in Norfolk that I am working on - and we have no information about him whatsoever (awaiting death certificate as I type). I believe that he might have been born in Newcastle in 1867, possibly married in 1889 and 1907.

Sorry for the vagueness but I would much appreciate any information that you Charltons (and family) might have about him.

john

Karen, my John & Jane Charlton was probably married in VA. Two sons that I know of were born there (Maybe Cumberland Co.VA??) They migrated to Sumner Co.TN.and the sons went on to Calloway Co.Ky to live & die..Not sure if John & Jane stayed in Tn. or went back to VA. I have no info. on them at all, just their names...Jane may be a middle name, but that was what was written in a death book of Calloway Co. Ky when their son Judah died..That's where I got their names, it said Judah son of John & Jane of Sumner Co.TN.Judah died in 1853..

Hi! I am looking for relatives of George Charleton, born Todholes, near Elsdon, Northumberland, England, around 1800. Married Ann Robson and sailed to Australia around 1835 in the 'Clyde', then went onto Kawhia, New Zealand around 1840. Other brothers, called William, Richard, Thomas, stayed in Elsdon area. Please contact me: s.schollum@clear.net.nz Thanks

Phillipa,
Sorry, I have no record of any other Charleton/Charlton coming to New Zealand, other than 'my' George Charleton who resided at Kawhia from around 1840 until his death in 1863. According to family records he only had one son, John Robson Charleton. George did have a brother William, but no-one knows anything about him I have a theory that he went to Australia, as George went there in 1835, but have no proof.
When was your William born? Unfortunately there are a lot of william charltons in this world. Good luck with your research
Cheers
Stephen Schollum
