Thanks for your reply. We must be related I guess! Do you know much about Amylene? How she died? She was young when she died. I've tried to find her grave but no luck. Please look at my family tree as there's quite a lot of info about Amylene's siblings and parents that you may or may not know. Do you have any photos of Amylene? I've got some of her sister, Harriet, who was my great great gran. Regards
Lisa

Hi Jennifer, I have a scribbled note of a discussion I had with my mum before she died where she mentioned a mysterious 'Hannah' or "Harriet' in the family history who was reputedly a drunk/prostitute/pauper somewhere around Hastings or Eastbourne way. My mum had it in her head she was married to a Henry Charman not William though - although she was a bit confused about the whole episode so it may just be a mix up.

Hello,
My great grandparents were Annie Louisa Martin and George Henry Charman. His parents were Michael Charman and Elizabeth Stratton and this line goes back to the 1500s I think. I haven't researched this line for some time as it is quite well documented. and as I gave my most recent info to Colin Charman you will probably have it already. However, if you think I could help with anything please feel free to give me a shout! I am in Cardiff, South Wales.
Regards,
Teresa

Sorry I cant remember if I have written about this before but Annie Rose was my grandfather (Albert Rose) half sister. Their mother was Louisa Rutty from Wiltshire and Matthew Rose from Steeple Ashton, Bristol and later Toronto was Albert's father. Annie was the illegitate daughter of Louisa, before she married Albert, and a man named Underwood, I think his first name was James. I have more information if you would like it.

Hi Sylvia,
those names dont ring a bell with me, but there again, I have not really gone into the charman history. Your best bet would to try and contact a Colin Charman, he has researched the Charmans in great depth. I will try and get some info if you cant find him anywhere to contact. Good luck sonia

Hi, Yes, the name Colin does ring a bell now you mention it.
my uncles name was Arthur Charman, he emigrated before I was born I think, before 1954. My mums name is Ivy Elizabeth Charman, we emigrated in Sept/Oct 1969 both families went to Sydney. Arthur married Rosemary and had 2 children lived in NSW. Ivy was married to Joe Swann but he died in 1966, she then married Frank O'Callaghan about 1967/8 in UK,he passed away about 2 years after we arrived in Oz, then she remarried a Denise Ring in Australia about 25/30 years ago. They are both still living.
Even though I have a little info on the Charmans, my main aim at the moment is to find out about my dads side of the ffamily, I have been tracing my relatives over here in UK and found that he has only 1 sister left, so I am very busy asking her lots of questions. I feel at the moment there are enough Charmans to ask questions to later.
Thank you for replying.

I do exchange emails with Jeannette from Geelong (also another Charman descendant).
I do have a Facebook account, but I rarely use it. I prefer to spend my computer time hunting down elusive ancestors.
