Erastus Allen Charter or Howard Allen Charter

Erastus born in Canada of French/Indian heritage married to Ellen Kent, settled in Kankakee, IL in approximately 1880/90. 2 sons, Howard Bernard. Howard Charter had 3 daughters: Evelyn (Mickey) Zachar, Bernice, and Joy. No birth records of Howard in Kankakee (born: Febuary 06, 1891). He served in both the Navy and the Army. I am trying to trace my entire family tree. Thanks for any help given.
