Hi! I have 12 children listed for Jonathan and Nancy Ann Ward, but no John C. Charter. For some reason he is listed with Thomas and Dorcus Ward. My Nellie Charter married James W Williams. Jonathan, Thomas and Nellie were three of the 8 children of John and Elizabeth Lee. Do you have all of them? There is a John L. Charter b.1804 as a son of Jonathan and Nancy Ann. I am always interested in new imput. Kay

Re: Erastus Allen Charter or Howard Allen Charter

Erastus Allen Charter was my great-grandfather. He was from Connecticut, not Canada. His great-grandfather fought
in the Revolutionary War and is buried in the cemetery on the old Charter Homestead, Lake Crystal, CT. Erastus Charter was a member of Company H, 96th Illinois infantry and was in the Civil War from August 1862 until the end. We have extensive history of the Charter family and I portray Erastus as an old Civil War Veteran at Memorial Day and Veteran's Day services. I know that your inquiry is old. However, let me know if you want information about the Charter family.

George Charter(s) c1850-1909 - Toronto area & NY

Looking for information on George Charter(s) who appeared in Brewster, Putnam, NY by 1872 and married there Josephine Losee. Had his own dry goods store until it burned down, and worked for the Borden milk factory until his death in 1909.

Suspect that this George Charter(s) was born to Joseph Charter and Mary Ann Egan of York Township, Ontario. The family also lived in Toronto. Joseph Charter was born circa 1809 and was buried in 1870 at St. James Anglican Church in Toronto.

Other members of the Joseph Charters and Mary Ann Egan family include daughters Jane (m. Benjamin Graham) and Mary; sons Thomas, Henry and Joseph. This Joseph may have lived in nearby Connecticut and was enumerated there in the 1900 census.

I believe this George Charter was first married to Mary Ann Johnson in Toronto in 1866. Married second, Josephine Losee in Brewster NY in 1872. I believe that the groom in both marriages is the same man but looking for confirmation.

Joseph Charter (c1809-1870) may be connected to George Charters of Scarborough, Ontario in the 1861 census.

Please reply if you have information on the same.
Everything from the census between 1850 and 1900 fits, but I would feel more comfortable if there was some other proof of this relationship. I was told that Squire died in Iowa and we should be looking there for a will or obit which names William as a surviving son and possibly gives his location which would match where William Newton Charter was living at the time. Can anyone help with that?

Researching John Charter line, who according to family lore came to Vermont, USA in 1776 from Scotland. Includes my great-grandfather Hardy Charter, b1878, married to Mary Evaline Robinson; as well as his father William Henry Charter, b1853, married to Rhoda Maidwell and later to Hattie. My grandmother was Hazel Charter Sloan, of Sterling, Rice County, Kansas, born 1913. This branch of the family settled in Kansas, USA. Can anyone help me make the connection? Thanks.

Her parents are Hiram and Hannah Hart, brother Edwin, and sister Mary. Her sister Mary married my gggrandfather Asa Kinney from the same area in 1854. Just getting started with the Charter surname and am exited to see what information turns up. Any tips from Charter researchers appreciated.

Female Charter married name Mitchel or Mitchell

I have been attempting to located my 5th great grandfather and have run into a serious brick wall. His name is Charter Mitchell b pre 1774. His children were born in the 1780's in Tazewell County, VA. I have decided to give something a try here. His first name is Charter, or at least we think that is his first name. It is the only one we have found for him. I am wondering if maybe his mother's maiden name might have been Charter. So, is there anyone out there who know's of a female, maiden name Charter who married a Mitchel or Mitchell in the early 1770's? The possible location is PA and we believe he may have been Scotch-Irish. Thanks.
